Project Reality Testing Team

Project Reality is seeking motivated individuals, who are passionate about Project Reality to the point where they are willing to sacrifice their free time to systematically test and logically breakdown issues, to help the development team improve the game. People who just want a sneak peak at the future of Project Reality will not be tolerated. Beta Testing can be boring, and/or time consuming, so if you do not find the prospect of helping to improve Project Reality a rewarding one then you should not apply.

Just what does the Testing Team do?

The Project Reality Testing Team, as you would expect, find and report bugs, test the fixes for these bugs to make sure they work as intended, test new features and changes to old ones to make sure they work as intended, and generally stress test the beta build in every way they can think of. They are also expected to provide feedback on game play, map balance, class balance, and so on.

What is the process of becoming a Beta Tester?

Everyone who wishes to join the Project Reality Testing Team must complete an online application for the corresponding game or modification they wish to test. Links to the various Beta Tester applications are listed below.

Not everyone who applies will get in, however if you do not get in right away that does not mean you won't be added later. The importance of this process means we will periodically need to remove people from the Testing Team and replace them with new applicants. Getting in does not guarantee that you will stay in, and not getting in right away does not guarantee that you will never get in.

What are the requirements?

To be eligible for consideration and possible selection as a Beta Tester, you must be a registered member of the Project Reality community and be 18 years of age or older. There are confidentiality and license restrictions as well as other terms you must agree to in the End-User License Agreement in order to complete the Tester application process.

In order to keep the Testing Team full of active testers, and to ensure that we do not get anyone hanging around just to see the new stuff early, we have a simple rule for tester activity. If a tester has not made a post announcing a planned absence in advance, and then does not log onto the forums for a long period of time, then that tester will be removed from the Testing Team.

Beta Testers are held to the forum rules just as, if not more, strictly than regular forum members. The Testing Team is part of Project Reality's public face and therefore should not be engaging in behavior that reflects negatively on the rest of the team, or Project Reality as a whole. Familiarize yourself with the forum rules here, before you consider applying to the beta team.

So, if you think you can help progress Project Reality and ensure the community gets the quality assurance they have come to expect from the Project Reality Development Team, please click a link below for more detailed information about each of our Testing Teams.
