Default British rifleman specialist main weapon - shotgun (INS only?)

Firstly , searched as per usual.

The suggestion:

Make the british rifleman specialist on Insurgency game modes Have only a shotgun as a main weapon. Give the soldier the two types of ammo carried, being buckshot and solid shot with their respective ranges (40m and 130m, see sources below) .
Also why only british? because as far as i know, the british army is the only faction represented in game to issue a shotgun as a main weapon to troops in the field, do correct me if im wrong on that assumption.

Is it worth it?

Yes, would require (in my uneducated, in modding respects, opinion) not that much effort as the weapon is in game (slap a eotech on it?) also the two types of ammo are also in game. I also think it would be a cool dynamic having a shotgun only kit. also the shotgun is lolwtfpwn.

Sources:

Combat Shotgun - British Army Website (video, pic and description)
YouTube - Paras' New Guns 07.06.10 (1 min onwards, and 1300m firing solid ? lolz)

Agreed, so long as the intel reward for shotgunning is decreased so its not the same as physically ARRESTING the insurgents.

No-one really uses the rifle anyway.

I do. I never use the shotgun, except when I must. The rifle is better in every conceivable way.

I can only completely agree, but with this the buckshot count will need a rise as its currently used in-game to A) Shoot Insurgents at Close Quarters and B) To give access to otherwise closed areas. To complete both of these there is already a big need to watch how many rounds you use with the shotgun before saying you need to re-arm.

And the EoTech is probably for the best too, the current sights could block out a mid-range target with the solids

How? The shotgun is like a semi-automatic bazooka - 1 shot 1 kill man! It shined in Korengal skirmish...

Also I don't have any source (in fact I don't know which's a good source), but in ACE 2 there is a US Army guy that uses the M1401 as his main weapon... but in ACE 2 all US Army's M4s have full auto instead of burst fire, so I'm not sure about the credibility.

Guys, when a new player comes, just answer his question and go on your merry way, instead of going berserk! It's THAT simple!

i use the shotgun a lot when i play as a specialist. but only in a CQB situation. like you said gazz, only for the british. i've seen many-a photograph of fellas (mostly Marines in Fallujah), with a mossberg slung on their back with their pack.

however, it's always boggled me why they'd chuck an eotech or something on a shottie? haha

The better question would be how shotgun is better than an assault rifle? It isn't. The rifles kill quickly, especially AK-47 and G3, which require just one shot. The less powerful rifles compensate with greater accuracy and less recoil, making 7.62 and 5. mm rifles roughly equal. And if you can't hit your target, then practice. You're far deadlier if you wield a rifle: in the meanwhile, I enjoy gunning down those shotgun noobs.

I use shotgun alot in CQB as it has no (or very little) deviation so shooting and moving is easy, and its also 1 shot one kill in most situations.

I like this idea, it gives them the position of being a pointman too, which is always handy.

I'd like to add how bad ass our boys look in their new MTP and weapon systems!

I agree Gazz, it makes the gameplay more interesting anyway
