Default Automotive Conspiracy?

I remember these being hailed as the next 'car', and then they just disappeared.

Is/was it a conspiracy!?!

In the 1950s General Motors, Standard Oil and Firestone dismantled the rail system in California and many other states with "impunity".

Meaning that they destroyed the rail infrastructure to such a degree that it would never make economic sense to try and rebuild it. They did this to sell more cars, oil and tires.

Greed is evil. Few large corporations can avoid greedy behaviours.

Y'all should check out the film "Enron: Smartest Guys in the Room" to see corporate behaviour run amock.

GM stand to lose alot of money if the electric car was to come into prodution. They couldn't give a flying fcuk that they're destroying the planet.
To be honest, it wouldnt surprise me if the governmnet was in on it too. Look at the US' standpoint on cutting fuel emittions. The majortiy of Europe and the western world has managed to take action, but the US pretty much refuses to do anything. Again, if they did, GM would lose money. Just seems a bit to conveniant that everytime something like this comes along, GM stand to lose out bu the US government ends up not tacking any positive action.

America was a tad late into the First World War. They redeemed themself's and came in slightly sooner in the Second. Now they seem determined to start the Third.

the US government in general is so fuckig corrupt. The UK gov is not so, there is a bit but recently there was a huge scandel over peeps given money to parties and then the parties given them tax breaks and such BUT in the US that happens all the time, i think, and there is no scandel.

It is even apparent in TV's programs, they might not be exsactly true but they portray a genral idea. In "with out a trace" the FBI peeps where told to "back off" by wastionton over a company polluting shit loads of stuff, i would not be surprissed if this actually happens.

The problem essentialy becomes people who want to become politicans are inherently unsuitable to be politicans because once they get power and money they just keep wanting more.

Money makes the world go round, we are all consumer slaves with little choice and the majority of people are ignorant to this. When the western world lives to make money and everything western nations and govts do is to create an economy (money) which keeps the wealth in the hands of the wealthy and in turn the wealthy get more power and influence. Things get monopolized and innovation is suppressed to ensure the money and power are held. This applies to all forms of big business and big business is always directly tied to govts. Capitalism always leads to corruption.

I want an electric car. I will be paying for gas in a few months, and it's going to suck

GM is slowly but surly dying. It will be out of business before the decade is out. Next to Tinker Air Force Base, GM had the most employees of any other company in the entire state of Oklahoma. They just closed down 2 enormous plants and put thousands of people out of work. Why? Because they refuse to innovate.

Some other car company (American or otherwise) will wise up and decide ot innovate the market, drawing in considerable business and causing everything else to fall behind. In order to stay with the times, other companies will be forced to adapt to the changes in the market. It will eventually happen, but GM has considerably slowed down the process by crushing their fleet of electric vehicles. They are probably stocking them up as we speak, preparing ot release them as soon as someone else finally forces them to, in order to stay with the market. B*stards
