RATM UK Xmas No1

I meant to post about this campaign a week ago but I didn't get the time. Now that RATM have won however, I am ecstatic

This was a campaign basically designed to stop the Xfactor (Winner of Christmas number one four years in a row) getting to number one in the UK singles charts, again. RATM winning has set two records;

1. It is the first single to reach the top of the charts on download sales alone.

2. It has achieved the biggest download sales total in a first week ever in the UK charts.

Oh and before anyone mentions it, I realise where the money goes and the irony of an anti-capitalist, anti-establishment band being used to get a number one spot.

Anyway, take it away RATM

but yes im glad that RATM won!

maybe get something entirely random and completely none 'mainstream' to win next year

I was reading about this but i didnt really know what was going on, can some one explain

Is it just people didnt want some other artist to win? So they did this

The X Factor (a derivant of Pop Idol, which your American Idol is based on itself) has produced the xmas #1 for the last 4 years. Since virtually everything from the X Factor goes to Simon Cowell.

This was a campaign to get someone other than Cowell the top spot for once, and it won.
