Proof that PR pilots have it too easy. Waaaay too easy.

I wasn't even there and I was scared to death.

we know our pilots have it too easy from both a realistic and game play point of view... its being worked on.

EDIT: also going to move this too offtopic has it has hardly anything to do with PR.

Did they not use any chaff/flares?

Also, where the hell is the ground? I can't see the horizon in that video.

If it was radar guided, I'm pretty sure Chaff or flares would have been useless...

Looks like about 30,000+ feet up. Midway through you can see at least 3 sams streak by as the guy is pulling a ton of g's to evade.

Chaff is used against radar guided. Flares against IR.

sounds like they lost one in the beginning (Stroke/Strike4?) and the guy who was flying this plane danced around a lot of SAMs! Holy Crap is that intense!

Good post!

not to play this down, but if you've ever heard about wild weasels, those guys had it rough.

If I recall correctly, this is a vid from the first gulf war. The F-16 with that camera onboard had a countermeasures dispenser failure (I don't know if it was a preexisting condition or he took a hit), so the pilot evaded all those missiles by himself.

If I also recall correctly, Stroke 4 ejected safe, was captured, and later released.

A thing to note is the radio comms in the video. When feces hit the fan in real life, radio comms can get as hectic as they do in PR, with people not exactly following the protocol closely. It also reminds me of Falcon 4.0, for obvious reasons.

Yeah, to those who dont know about the wild weasel missions over north vietnam, the basic strategy was to bait SAM sites into targeting them and consequently giving up there position on the ground, which the 'wild weasel' aircraft would then attack. Couple that with AAA fire and MiGs and this vid seems like a comparable cake walk.

[R-DEV]Eggman - At one point it said Realtitty which I think was a Freudian...
