Squier's are great guitars for the money. But then again, there are Squiers, and then there are Squiers.
The ones made back in the early-mid eighties were made in Japan. These easily rival many current US Standard Strats. Later, production was switched to Korea (Cort factory), and the quality went down. Then they switched to Mexico, and later, they also began production in Indonesia and China, where they are made today. Apart from those made in Japan, Squiers can't really be compared to "Fenders". Regardless, it also depends on which Fenders you are comparing them to. Are you comparing them to a standard MIM Strat? Or are you comparing it to a fully loaded Custom Shop Strat? Makes a big difference. Obviously, the wood quality on a $150 Squier is not going to be the same as a $1000 American Deluxe Strat. Same thing applies to the pickups (which can be changed though), the finish, the fretwork, the fretboard, etc. |

I used to have a sweet Epiphone Riviera of which I stuck some P94 humbuckers on it... It was sexy.
I've also had a Epiphone Casino, SG and Dot. I like Epiphone. |

nothing beats up a good les paul, i personally use a bc rich , bich series (1986 i own) but u need to be more specific, what do u need, playing tips , or hardware tips , what is your guitar guitar style, pop/rock, metal....bluegrass?lol , and another thing, distortion , cabinets, mic positioning can make a bargain guitar, sound like a pro guitar, its hard (and takes a loooot of time!), but u can make the work done.
i recommend a guitar that its weight is heavy, and maded on one piece and full maded of wood too, this ensures a better resonance. microphones, may vary, but i love humbuckers. |

Well he's not really asking for tips on a guitar, just tips on general guitar maintenance, etc.

mainteneance?, well .... dont put milk in the humbuckers, and dont play live concerts like nirvana
![]() nah, just change cords, wires, check out how is ur capaciters going up when u modify them, humbuckers can pass years and keeping sound really nice, try to avoid heavy magnectic fields, and treath ur guitar like an arm: u can tattoo it, but never rip it off! |

dont buy a squier. buy a guitar thats already good (gibson or fender, american made if possible), and worry more about learning to play it than what is in it. thats if you are new to axe shredding YEEEEE
