Default its so bad i have to leave pr for a while :(

yep i hope to retur on .6 due my pc is downgrading its cpu (p4 ht) to the point that it seems to run like a celeron one....and i need more ram, 1gb is not enough for this excelent game (pr not bf2 of course).

any ideas to return the standart values of my cpu and stop it for his constantly downgrading in performance would be greatly but so greatly apreciated ....

peace

Format your PC, maybe? Start afresh?

Save all your needed files on cd's or an external HD.

Then reformat.

And hey i run bf2 with a celeron. Its still mostly playable.

A good defrag might help.

You really should be backing up monthly at least.
That way you can afford a fresh install every now
and then, your decision or 'not' (shite happens).

What do you mean your CPU is downgrading in performance?

What makes you think it's a CPU problem over a system performance degradation?

The only reasonable explanation of CPU downgrading is heat. The cpu will throttle under the heat to reduce the chance of damage.

This might be what you are experiencing, but I don't think it probably is.

One way to tell is to get a monitoring program from your motherboard manufacturer or some third-party application that might be able to do the same thing.

If that is fine you can pretty much rule out the physical aspect of the CPU as the source of the problem.

Describe the steps you have already taken to diagnose the problem yourself if you don't mind. It's a lot more helpful to someone trying to resolve this type of issue if they have more to work with.

I'm suffering basically from the same problem as you. Bad performance and laggy gameplay.
And, as you, vBF2 runs smooth as a button.
Remove as much "crap" as possible from your harddrive meaning unused files such as movies, pics, music you no longer listen to and programs you don't use.
After that run a good defrag uttility such as diskeeper 2007 (it IS spelled like that)
The next thing you can do is to clean your registry and you have a number of tools to help with that:
TuneUp Utilities 2007
Advanced Windows Care V2
Just google them

Then, ofcourse there is the virus and spyware issue
Make sure you run your antivirus and antispyware tools frequently.

All of the above made PC gaming life a lot easier for me.
I had over a 1000 problems in the registry alone when I first ran these tools!
So definitely give them a try.

{ pretty sig removed construction on new one has not begun }
... yet ...
