Default Help me out and I will be forever grateful.

I'm having some mic issues.. well.. user issues .

My last microphone had a nasty run in with the vaccum cleaner, and just today, I went out and bought a a cheap Nexxtech,

Anyway.

How do I get this bloody thing working ?

I've got an X-FI XtremeMusic soundcard. So, where do I plug it in? I've tried the soundcard, the microphone jack in the back, and the microphone jack in the front. Nothing is working.

Where exactly do I plug it in and enable it?

Thank you to those who help me in my quest to harass people with more ease.

I will be grateful to whoever help me, aside from Desertfox. He is exempt from my gratefullness.

This may be far out but did a CD or any kind of installation guide/ software come with the mic?
And if so, did you install the software before plugging the mic in?

Yep make sure you have your drivers installed, also make sure you are plugging it into the right place on your soundcard.

No installtion CD or manual were included. It's a (cheap) mic.

My last mic didn't require any drivers. Problem is, I can't remember how I had it set up.

if VOIP is not working for you, do this:
Start>
Run>
Type "dxdiag" and click OK
Click "Sound 1" tab, it should show your soundcard
Go to "Hardware Sound Acceleration Level"
Take the slider and move it to "Basic Acceleration"
Exit

Garabaldi, are you having problems because people can't hear you or you can't hear yourself?

Hmmm, so you've checked your mic is not muted in the volume control bar (far right)?
