Default [Faction Concept] Afghan National Army

Hello,
I had a idea a long time ago to develop this faction but the idea never got further.
With the withdrawal of the Combat Forces in Afghanistan I started looking back at this idea, and started working on it.
Then I loaded them In-Game to see if it was working, and it didn't, so I kept searching and found some pretty amazing tools to help me debug it.
Then I started re-texturing/coding vehicles and the list goes on.

At the moment the faction work as a Mini-Mod like PR:WW2 Alpha Test.

I needed a second map before making this thread, last week I spoke with Ason and he was really interested for ANA on Bamyan. I worked on some python that does't work that week and finally making this thread today.

I can't take this project all by myself because of my working schedule and I'm really bad at modeling, complex texturing, etc (Mainly Kits Geometries and Player Models).

Design Plan
__________

Recrutement

Currently looking for people working on Player model (Modeling/Textures) and Kit Geometries (Modeling/Textures),
Send me a PM you if you are interested.

__________

Player/(Kit) Models:
  • Officer/Breacher

  • Riffleman/Riffleman AT

  • Medic/Grenadier/Automatic Riffleman

Vehicles
  • Technical

  • Up-armored Humvee (DShK)/Humvee (DShK)/Humvee Support

  • M113

  • BMP-1/BMP-2

  • Mi-17

Maps

Mats391: "When admins set LRG instead of STD."

I like this!

I actually expected this earlier than all the other community factions.

The most challenging task here will be to create new voices. To the best of my knowledge, the most widely spoken languages in Afghanistan are Pashto and Farsi. According to Wikipedia, Pashto is the most widely spoken of the two. In my opinion this alone is an important project, because the taliban faction should be speaking these languages. Arabic can serve as a placeholder, but in my opinion there needs to be a serious effort to add more realistic voices in the future.

In the design plan you have many of the primary weapons set to Ak74s. For the most part, the ANA looks as if they're using M16A2s and some M16A4s. M4s are only used by special forces, but it should be fine for the spotter to have one with an optional rco.
I would recommend checking out your references and further revising your planning.

I'd be happy make soldier textures and new kit geometries once the ANA have at least one map 100% done.

I actually found the Technical, I modified the Texture to remove the Shark, added the ANA logo on the hood and added 1p.

I never thought about the voice, we will be using Arab as a placeholder, until we can find some one who can do Pashto/Farsi.

When I did the first kit layout they had too many scopes and I think they had only 4 or 5 AK-47s in total.
I revised it to make them use less scopes and use AK-74s, but I believe too that they have too much AK-74s.
So I might just remove Alt Kits for some of them. I'll be revising the kits layout later.

Bamyan is really close to be finished, and I need to find some time to work on Musa Qala.

Might be an idea to get the woodland camo from the MEC skins on Syrian maps/Syrian armed forces?

yeah that would be nice.

Also perhaps it's possible to make a ziptie version with no scopes? If only spotter, sniper and officer will have scopes I guess that's fine aswell, but it would be really great to have one version with no scopes at all (only on sniper/marksman).

It would be nice if there could be a Pashto voice, but the Taliban faction is using Arab now as a placeholder as well right? If somebody can do the voices it is great but I don't think it should let down a possible future release.

We'd love to have proper voices for Taliban and the likes, but it's very hard to find people that speak Farsi (for example) and can record it properly. So for now I'd say just use the MEC voices.

@max nice; oh, okay, cool to see it put to use at last
