Default Youtube Buys Twitch For $1,000,000,000

Yes I know its my video, please don't bash me for it... that's just the place I post things, but I wanted to share this with you all and talk about what this potentially means for the video-video-gaming industry (pun? 0.o)

Here's sources that are confirming this.

USA Today ► Report: YouTube to acquire Twitch for $1 billion
Ars Technica ► Report: Google to acquire Twitch.tv for more than $1 billion | Ars Technica
Kotaku ► Report: YouTube Is Buying Twitch For $1 Billion

Still essentially just a rumor, all your sources just tie back to the same Variety article. Which is to say that there's still likely tons of stuff that would cause it to not go through.

That said, I can see this going very bad and killing a lot of Twitch's user base. There's always other sites though, I guess.

Kotaku reporting on actual news? Well, there's a first for everything I guess.

You mean how Whatsapp has a lot more users and is in general a better investment and they know it.
If Twitch would have held out for ~1 year (past the DotA Internationals for example) they could have charged way more.

Fair enough, but I still think 19 (sorry for the mistake) was a ridiculous amount of money for that app. Especially considering the short lifespan of the average application on the market nowadays.
In the end I was merely just pointing out at the huge gap between the 2.

So, who's next? Snapchat?

I like how in some movies there is Google everywhere like they bought the entire world, but in the end we're slowly getting there for real.

good news. hopefully the servers will get upgraded, because because twitch often lags from over here, regardless of my connection.

Yeah, the player is pretty horrible as well.

Google will also slowly integrate G+ with Twitch, first politely asking you to connect both accounts, then suggesting it every time you log in, then everybody who registers will also get a G+ account and then only G+ will work and you will have no choice. Same as YouTube. It makes sense from Google's perspective and it's also good for anybody that "markets" through Twicth, YouTube, social media... but the way Google does it as annoying because G+ sucks.
