Default ?? about extraction mode.

Wondering what the reason is that the VIP turns into a deaf mute in extract or escort mode ?
Is it technical or by design ?
If he can't be in a squad or a commander this would rely on text messaging to communicate ?

Even Gene Hackman's radio worked forever in Bat 21

I agree. VOIP is very important for the VIP to have but since he can't be in a squad communication is a huge issue.

I think it adds to the challenge, and relies on singals and in game radio messaging.

Have you played street pilot extract on a pub yet ? Just getting the US to move up and get the pilot kit with a bunch of noob's that have yet to RTFM is a challenge enough

Still wondering if it's a technical issue or by design(and if so what is the Dev's reasoning) ?

But it is not a fun challenge. It does not enhance teamwork but counteracts it. It disrupts squad play (player leaves to take kit, another takes his place requiring a kick later on...) and it has no gameplay advantage whatsoever.

PR encourages teamplay and voip in every respect except for this.

Yes agreed - that will work for a clan or tourney match, but convince your team on a pub to all hop on the TS/VEnt server if offered on the server. But then that's why there is an in-game voip right.
Hopefully a Dev will post soon to explain, then the Wiki FAQ can be updated

well originally it was because we ran into some technical limitations around the vip kit showing up on the minimap hehe. it just wasn't working properly for some reason. but I'll look into it again and see if we fixed the issues.

allowing the VIP to create squads would take away from the game play, they pick up the kit and then 5 guys spawn on them is not what we want.

allowing them to become commander and gain access to the commander functions (zoom) is also not good for the game play.

but perhaps allowing the VIP to show up on the minimap is something we need to do (er .. assuming the bugs are fixed hehe).

Not sure about the VIP joining a squad.. I can't really see anything too bad with that... but maybe there is??

Seems like these things would really enhance game play, particularly if we add a unique voice message and spotted icon so that the enemy also benefits from this.. would help to focus game play.

Sometimes we make decisions that seem good at the time, then just don't make any sense when you play them .. this might be one of those

Thanks Eggman - makes sense now.
If VIP could be regulated to just being a squad member or limit his abilities as a Commander to just voip would be even better (IMHO).
Perhaps add your points to the Wiki now
