Default Tanks test infra-red invisibility cloak

BBC News - Tanks test infra-red invisibility cloak

Quote:
Developed by BAE Systems, the Adaptiv technology allows vehicles to mimic the temperature of their surroundings.

It can also make a tank look like other objects, such as a cow or car, when seen through heat-sensitive 'scopes.

Researchers are looking at ways to make it work with other wavelengths of light to confer true invisibility.
Will be interesting which tanks get fitted with this once its been developed. Possibly could be fitted onto the next generation of tanks or upgrades of present day ones

would also be fun to troll your enemies by pretending to be a cow

well someone played too much Red alert 2

There is only one unforgivable lie That is the lie that says, This is the end, you are the conqueror, you have achieved it and now all that remains is to build walls higher and shelter behind them. Now, the lie says, the world is safe.? The Great Khan.

40k is deep like that.

The Normandy's IES (internal emission sink) stealth system is her most notable feature. For centuries, it was assumed that starship stealth was impossible. The heat generated by routine shipboard operations is easily detectable against the near absolute zero background temperature of space. The Normandy, however, is able to temporarily "store" this heat in lithium heat sinks deep within the hull.
Any1 else?
