Release: Project Reality: BF2 v0.97 Patch Released!

The award winning Project Reality and Black Sand Studio teams are proud to announce the official release of Project Reality: Battlefield 2 v0.97!

After the release of Project Reality: BF2 v0.96, there were a few critical issues discovered that could not be resolved via a server side hotfix. So, it was decided to release a client patch to fix these issues.

Since PR:BF2 v0.97 is only a client-side patch and we want to release it as quick as possible, there is no preload period and the installer is not password protected. The files are available for all to download and install straight away via our official downloads page:

Please note the different types of installers on the official downloads page. If you already have Project Reality: BF2 v0.96 installed, you simply need to download and install the v0.96 to v0.97 "Patch". Otherwise, if you have any previous versions, or you do not have Project Reality: BF2 installed at all, you will need to download the v0.97 "Full" installers, which comes in 3 separate parts due to the sheer amount of content in Project Reality: BF2. All three parts must be installed in order to play if you use the "Full" installers.

Yes. You can use deployables now and jets have an enlarged OOB.

Yes, but with Iron Eagle we want your feedback. We're trying a new thing where the out of bounds for jets only is 2000m past the map edge in all directions. Pilots will have to zoom their minimap or set it while in bounds. If they center it while out of bounds, then the minimap will show their out of bounds location.

This is good and bad.
Good: It shows where they are in relation to the map edge so it's less likely that you'll get lost out of bounds.
Bad: Pilots may not be able to see the target location on the map if it's too far away.

In all cases, you'll still have the chevron placed by your SL showing up on the compass so you can fly in that direction, then when closer re-center your minimap.

We made this change only on Iron Eagle so we could get feedback. If you like it then we'll make the change on other jet layers. If you don't, then we'll probably have to keep the jet's out of bounds timer at 10 seconds unless we can figure out how to change EA's hardcoded OOB.
