We are excited to share with you our next update for Project Reality: Battlefield 2. This update focuses on new gameplay mechanics and balancing old ones. All that combined with the usual bunch of bug fixes and changes to map layers. To learn more about these changes and new content in v1.6.8 you can read our highlight and watch the video DevCast here.

We do want to note that we added the maps test_airfield and test_bootcamp. If you have these already manually installed, you need to remove them before updating.

PR:BF2 v1.6.8.2 Changelog (2021/10/01)

General:
  • Added options to increase LOD switch distances on statics and overgrowth.
  • Removed options to disable LOD switching on statics and overgrowth.
  • Increased near-clip distance slightly to improve Z-fighting.
  • Fixed some performance issues in executable code.

COOP:
  • Fixed most vehicles being automatically destroyed if abandoned for too long (boats excluded).

Menu:
  • Added packet loss indicator to scoreboard management tab.
  • Added an option for squad leaders of asset squads to toggle the Asset Claiming System in the Manage Squad menu.
  • Fixed the map opening 0.0025s too fast.
  • Fixed the flag capture progress bar opening too slow.

Weapons:
  • Fixed grenade traps being invisible.
  • Fixed German WW2 AT mines being invisible.
  • Fixed mines triggering team vehicle damage even when killing enemy vehicles.

Vehicles:
  • Fixed BMP-1 reload sound not synced with reload.
  • Fixed MTLB dying to 9mm projectiles.


Levels:
  • Adak:
    • COOP128:
      • Re-added all accidentaly overwritten fixes from 1.6.8.0.
      • Changed stationary AA weaponry back to the previously used type.
      • Fixed Chinese forces using Russian choppers.
      • Fixed the UAV fuel bar showing incorrect amount of fuel.

  • Bamyan:
    • Fixed helipads in the south-western part of the airfield not having resupply zones.
    • AAS128:
      • Reduced ticket count.
      • Fixed light settings making dynamic objects too bright.
      • Fixed USMC using US Army assets.
      • Fixed USMC having no repair station.
      • Fixed Taliban having no supply vehicles.

  • Black Gold:
    • COOP128: Fixed the UAV fuel bar showing incorrect amount of fuel.

  • Jabal:
    • COOP128:
      • Fixed REDFOR DOD not being printed on the minimap.
      • Fixed the outside terrain and water being way too bright.
      • Updated the bridge to look like it is not fit for any usage.

  • Karbala:
    • COOP 32/64: Fixed layers not initializing correctly
    • AAS128: Fixed the layer not initializing correctly

  • Outpost:
    • INS: Fixed floating cache.
    • COOP 32/64: Changed BWP1 to Rosomak, W-3W Sokól to Mi-17 and W-3WA Sokól to Mi-24 for historical accuracy.


PR:BF2 v1.6.8.1 Changelog (2021/09/05)

  • Fixed slow zoom-out when switching weapons while zoomed in.
  • Fixed shadows showing up through walls.
  • Fixed only AAS showing up in the local server browser.
  • Fixed dying on spawn in Gungame due to wrong kit.
  • Fixed being able to pick up kit instantly after automatic kit pickup.
  • Fixed Gungame getting stuck in a demotion loop in rare situations.
  • Fixed "enableItem(), wrong index" client crash.

COOP:
  • Updated the game to no longer damage empty vehicles with less than 50% HP.
  • Fixed map markers disappearing within seconds after placing them on the map.
  • Fixed crashes caused by AI logic for jets.

Menu:
  • Updated in game menu mouse pointer to be more responsive.
  • Updated Spawn Menu elements to open/close at the same time.
  • Fixed blood of the wounded screen getting activated together with mouse in scoreboard during briefing.
  • Fixed Layer Details list hiding too slow if the whole Spawn Menu is closed with the list still opened.

Vehicles:
  • Updated Osprey ramp to move up while flying.
  • Updated Kamaz physics to be less bouncy.
  • Removed ZBIK searchlight blocking gunners view.
  • Fixed supply Zastava being destroyable by shotgunning the supply crate.
  • Fixed one-manned Polish BWP-1 crashing the game when loading a map with it.
  • Fixed all one-manned BMP vehicles having coaxial projectile position misaligned after respawning.
  • Fixed ZBIK sights not centered.
  • Fixed Mengshi and Tigr taking too much damage when ramming other light vehicles.
  • Fixed IEDs getting stuck in supply technical.
  • Fixed Fuchs MG gunner seeing invisible vehicle.

Weapons:
  • Updated rifles to allow faster shooting in single fire.
  • Updated recoil animation to be 5 ticks long down from 8.
  • Updated missiles to more use authentic acceleration.
  • Updated mines to be destroyable by C4, mortars and artillery.
  • Updated iron sight focuse:
    • Increased zoom to 1.2x up from 1.15x.
    • Decreased time to focus to 0.4s for all weapons.
    • Decreased tunnelvision effect.

Memes aside good update guys, THX for continuing to update the game after all this time making it better by each patch the quality of life has improved so much lately

Sad to see INS on those big maps disappear, and like l already suggested on Ras there should be a new Layer with different factions added and CHN inf looses to IDF inf but nice to see Namers delayed.

the parachute spawn on silent eagle should be closer to the flags.

as of now both, trucks from main as well as enemy helis, reach the german first flag before the parachuting infantry does, making it superflous at best and harmful at worst.
