// I added the pictures and the Evening Prayer. Sadly I did not notice that the time stamp was enabled when I took the pictures. On most photos it does not cover the objects, and when it does you should be able to easily remove it with the clone stamp tool, so it does not really matter that much. I tried to remove the background noise on the evening prayer, but there is still the traffic sounds inbetween, sometimes. Will take more work to try and filter them out. Use those files for whatever you want, I do not care. It might be useful, it might be not. Everyone has full permission to use them.

So here is the video guys.

Sorry for the bad camera work. I always had a shaky hand + all the street crossing where I had to watch out for the traffic + avoiding to tape passing passengers since I did not want to hold my camera in their face when they came by and the fact that i was walking made the footage a bit shaky. Should be viewable nevertheless.

btw not all the building positions I am talking about are correct. Sometimes I remembered things wrong from the PR version, but most of the stuff I say should be right. Just mixed some things up, like the T at the beginning, which is not there or the crooked T's which are not exactly where I was pointing at, but somewhere close in the area, so yeah, does not really matter that much. You should recognize most of the things anyways.

Fort, mosque and docks were not enterable...so sorry for that.

PREVIOUS POST AND BACKGROUND INFO:

Heyo guys,

it's me again.

I got a new story coming up for you and everything started 20 days ago with this thread: https://www.realitymod.com/forum/f38...age-heavy.html

So I was reading the posts and looked through the work BigNaptizzle did. Then Rhino was asked why he created the map and people started talking about how nice it would be to see the city in person and such. https://www.realitymod.com/forum/f38...ml#post1809613

In my past I often looked up the real life pictures of the city and I was always fascinated by how detailed the scenery was actually recreated in PR. I mean I am playing PR for about 5 years now and probably played Muttrah more often than going to work. I know the map better than my neighbourhood... so suddenly I had this urge to actually visit it. I looked up the climate in the area and found out that it will get way too hot after April. Also the prices of the hotels where expensive as fuck and a lot of the money i saved in the last couple of months would be gone .... but I thought: its not just some place...it's not just some vaction ... it's Muscat...it's Muttrah City....just a couple of minutes away from Oman's capital....how awesome would it be to visit the most famous piece of map everyone in the realitymod community knows about...travel to the heart of PR.

So I had to decide, now or never....I simply said to myself: "Screw this shit, I'm going to Muttrah!...

Well here I am now. Holding my flight tickets to Muscat 20 days later. I booked a 6 days vacation in an excellent hotel resort. My flight will start exactly in one week on the next sunday. And I am pretty much ready for it. Did some shopping for it today, printed out the map layout of Muttrah as my city guide and now I am waiting until next sunday.

It might be a strange feeling to walk down the costal street without being targeted by HAT's from the castle but all in all it will probably be an awesome experience.

I am planning of doing some kind of VLOG and record and comment as much of my stay in Muttrah as possible. I will post it in here and depending on the wifi quality in the hotel I will keep you up-to-date about the stuff I will be doing when I am there.

I already asked Rhino and BigNaptizzle if they need any specific pictures of buildings and other statics.

Sooo do you guys have any suggestions or wishes of things which I should do there? Like paint your nicknames on the front wall of the mosque? I am pretty sure the locals will understand that.

// I hope its ok if I post the thread in this section? Since it is "PR:BF2 Tales from the Front" ... and what I am doing here, is literally telling you tales from the actual Front ;P

This should be a pretty epic thread, when its done I may even have to post it as an official PR blog

Don't forget to pack your sniper rifle and go camping in the hills, although might be a bit tricky to get that though airport security but I'm sure after you explain that your from the PR community and this is what everyone dose when going to Muttrah they will let you though

Have an awesome time as I'm sure you will and hope my map lives up to the real thing!

EDIT: also in terms of ref material, what you could try and get is face on pics of signs and their locations as well as pictures that can be used to make tiling textures from, such as pics of walls, ground (preferably from far away zoomed in but no digital zoom) like this, with image 2 and 3 being the orignal photos, with then image 1 being made as a tillable texture in PS (which we can do, although image 3 was probably the img used to do img1) http://www.cgtextures.com/texview.ph...h35tbfpsoahc01

First order of business - secure the double T.

Anyway, good luck on your trip! PR or not - Muttrah sounds like an awesome destination.

Sadly the mosque at the coast is not accessible for tourists.

That's seriously awesome dude, crazy! Have fun! Watch out for the enemy CAS Cobra! LOL

Make sure to cap West City Center as soon as possible and set up an FOB near the Mosque! Bahah. But yes, it would be really nice to see the interior of the Mosque and some famous areas like the main road across the water. Maybe even the construction areas to see what those actually are/turned out to be?

Pretty much all the area behind the sea front isn't based on the r/l layout, since at the time, I had very little to work off for that so had to make it up

It must be such a weird feeling visiting a map you've played thousand times on. I'd love to do that! Enjoy and send us pictures
