A good example of this was the whole fiasco a few years ago about how poorly the G36 was performing in Afghanistan when overheating, becoming too inaccurate to use effectively even at medium range: https://www.dw.com/en/heckler-koch-g...ces/a-18402772

In PR, we use deviation as a replacement for weapon sway and many other things which is why it is so extreme but that doesn't neglect the fact that modern rifles aren't laser weapons and do have a tiny amount of deviation, even in perfect conditions when you don't have any windage etc to worry about either.
As such, I think it is a mistake to have absolutely no deviation if you're going for realism and even if you're not, I can't see much gameplay advantage in having laser weapons and not giving different types of weapon more or less accuracy and all being as accurate as each other with just different scopes, recoils etc to distinguish them.

It's a big team, I'm not the only one making these decisions. So if you'd want to influence the game balance, it would make the most sense to make these points in the project's Discord server.

Thank you very much. Not being able to pickup other people’s kits is why I
Don’t like squad.

I'm really not interested in arguing about it. It's simply one bit of free advice that probably wasn't even worth the time to write. You can take it or leave it, what direction you guys decide is really up to you at the end of the day.

All good man, I don't care either way. Up to you.

Implemented our first iteration of tracers today. We already spent a lot of time reworking our projectile networking a few months ago, so a tracer effect was fairly simple to add.

I didn't see it mentioned, maybe I missed it, but are you using ballistics, hitscan, or a hybrid?

We spent a considerable amount of time developing a networked ballistics system for projectiles very early in the project. It is the cornerstone upon which this game is built. We figured having a performant yet realistic ballistics model for a project like this would be imperative, so that was one of our first major objectives to accomplish.

So there will be no modern factions and vehicles, you set the time period for the official part to be 80's only?
