That's a pretty good idea. My thought is how durable is it to the environment?

I dont think oculus for vehicle driving is any good at all.
only by looking on this video I think it explains my point. |

In this case there is no lag tho, since AFAIK it's a direct feed from the cameras to the oculus rift and not from an online source.

yes but still those milliseconds that is delayed from the camera to oculus could be vital. coming to a turn or something and the camera is delaying the video feed with 2 seconds could be REALLY bad.

That could be extremly usefull!
ATM most (maybe all) AFV have only a few view ports to look through, with lots of blind spots. Example German Marder: ![]() With a camera/Oculus Rift system the driver can get a much better view and lag shouldn't be a problem. If you mount the same system in the back, backwards driving will also be a lot faster/safer. ATM you either have a backwards camera like in cars or your commander leads the driving, which means he can't focus on the surroundings. |

The delay shouldn't be more than the one you would get with a screen from the camera of a remote weapons system.

Wouldn't the cameras get damaged or destroyed at the first hint of combat (think HE explosions, bullets, etc) and driving over very rough terrain?
