V 3.0 Release
Attention Squaddies,

Tomorrow we are releasing Squad v3.0.

While there are dozens of improvements, fixes, and other changes in v3.0 the most significant are the addition of the American marine forces faction, new amphibious gameplay, and a new map Black Coast.

We’ve made a whole lot of other gameplay changes which are listed below in the Changelog, as well as addressed numerous bugs.

Squad v3.0 will be released on Wednesday, June 22nd at 18:00 UTC.

Nice, just played Squad last night after a long break, I've got to say, the vanilla game is starting to slowly feel like PR, of course there's a long way to go, especially with a large community, but last time I played Squad before this I was quite disappointed by its meat-grinder meta. Now it seems the pace has been slowed down and respawns have been nerfed or something, didn't read the patch notes but it is definitely different.

Indeed. Squad meta finally began to resemble the PR one. Of course there are still some mechanics that would require tweaking to bring it closer to slower paced PR gameplay, however those are small things like stamina, tweaks to reduce the run'n'gun meta, apart from some of those, Squad is really good at the current state, with huge playerbase that is used to communicate and coordinate, and it doesn't make you much frustrated when squadleading. Actually I thought about list of changes that could make Squad really close to what average PR player expects, and it turns out that small, pretty minimalistic mod, with just some mechanical changes could make a Squad a "PRv2".

Yeah, what I'm really waiting for is better maps, I mean, the newer maps are great, the old ones feel quite empty and dull, with empty buildings etc.

You guys are right, squad is becoming more and more like PR with every update. Just needs a few more things added.

1. Increase running speed. In PR it feels like were still running faster than current squad running speeds. Not by much though, they increased squad running speeds in the last update. It just needs a little more increase, maybe 5%.

2. Thermal Vision for the armor assets and weapon stations on vehicles. Its hard to see shiet when your used to the PR thermals and try to play squad with out them.

3. Fix the chopper physics to more resemble PR. Ive been flying in PR for over 10 years and I can tell you flying in squad feels like piloting a slow blimp or weather balloon. The collective response is hella delayed and trying to maintain a stable balance when landing is difficult. Every landing in squad feels like a crash landing, nothing goes smooth.

4. Add CAS choppers. I played a round of the new map Black Coast and the russian team held the beach all round. Without a CAS chopper we had no chance of opening up a sector to land our forces. CAS huey or Apache or even a kiowa would of done the job.

5. A game timer for delayed squad creation. In squad whoever has the fastest PC will get first pick on all the assets. Adding the timer will bring the balance that PR has with asset distribution.

With all 5 of these things added or fixed it will make the game alot more like PR.

Yeah those are all good points, I would add backup iron sights and "TV" view for vehicle driver positions.
I don't know what they're doing with helicopters but looking at them flying they look like a powerpoint presentation with all of the rubberbanding, and when they pull sharp turns, it looks completely unnatural
