NNNNNNNNNNOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO they are about to ruin the original trilogy too. Well maybe not but it's VEEERRRRRRYYY likely. I'm still traumatized by the prequels. J.J.Abrams is no sci-fi, or any decent director at all in my book.

I'm not sure how they'll fit in the oldies either... I mean, they got some years on their back by now.

Edit: Title could need a little fix, as in (movie) or something.
Its the same producer as Star Trek right?

So its most likely going to be a bad movie.

Sad... I would have loved me some good Star Wars.

Reading all this I feel kinda retarded for liking the prequel movies. Perhaps I didn't really mind the story because I simply LOVED the clone troopers. The big clone battles in Ep.2 and 3 were like watching porn for me.

How can you say that? I'm not familiar with the Star Trek universe and frankly said, I simply hate that entire collection of movies but even I saw the massive discrepancies in the new Star Trek. The universe is what made Star Wars Star Wars, the movies itself were mediocre at best, with well somewhat good actors but it was the world you got immersed into that made it so great and knowing Abrams, he'll take a nice steaming dump on it and do whatever he wants.

Source: He already completely ignored the extended universe.

God some of the fans are really a pain in the ass, as if the fights in the original were even comparable. They were eons worst. Not saying that the choreography in PM was on high standards tho.

As I'm not familiar with anything Extended universe - maybe except some things they mentioned in the N64 Star Wars Rogue Squadron game -, I don't really care as long as he(JJ Abrams) delivers. The Star Trek reboot wasn't bad, but it was.... predictable. Too much action for a franchise that is more focused on exploration and social commentary(Star Trek 6 does both of those beautifully). But then again, the reboot was mostly only successful because of that, so I can't exactly blame them. Something like Star Trek: The (barely in) Motion Picture would've not sold outside of the core fans, going the opposite direction(pretty much where Revenge of the Sith left of) is likely going to happen. As much as I love the Plinkett Reviews and wish they'd produce more, I rather had another well done Star Wars trilogy in order to make me forget Episodes 1-3 ever existed.

I like the flashy fights in the prequels, but the fights in the originals were realistic. The problem is that real sword fighting wasn't very flashy, so it doesn't suit itself very well for entertainment.

Realistic? Maybe but for people that were supposed to have supernatural powers, they fought like we did with sticks when we were kids. Actually no, our fights were better because we hurt each other with those sticks. I guess thats what you get for letting actors do that kind of thing.

Despite you trying to criticize the original trilogy, this is exactly how the fight between Anakin and Obi Wan in Episode 3 is. I guess that's what you get when for letting directors focus on flashy effects and choreographed fighting before trying to make the visual presentation comprehensible.

Not really. With the fancy jumping and ducking they made the fights look abnormal, something regular humans wouldn't be able to do. Of course they also did conceal the bad choreographic with it but that wasn't it's entire purpose.
