I will do my best here:

The first thing you will need is software to track your head, for example, I use FaceTrackNoIR because I want to use my camera.
Second thing you will need in theory is FreeTrack but you won't need it for BF2 (PR) because there's a program made specifically for BF2 and fixed for PR ( link by sirfstar: https://dl.dropboxusercontent.com/u/...F2FreeLook.exe ).

There is nothing really to set up, first you start as administrator FaceTrackNoIR (or TrackIR software or whatever you will be using, I recommend FaceTrackNoIR), and then you click on Start/Stop in order to start or stop the tracking, then you start BF2Freelook.exe (from the link above which works for PR 1.0+) as an admin too.

And that's it. Now you need to go into a vehicle and turn your head around.

At first it's going to be horribly fast due to the huge sensitivity, but you can tweak under Curves to your liking in FaceTrackNoIR.

Here's my config which has Roll turned off. You can load it by pressing Load profile on FaceTrackNoIR.

Edit: Updated link, turned off roll, and moving on the X and Y axis which seemed to be annoying while flying, now you are only able to pitch, yaw and move on the Z axis (zoom back and forth).

The important thing to keep in mind to avoid problems is to start FaceTrackNoIR and BF2FreeLook before you start PR.

If anyone wants to reword this or add something, feel free.

I was thinking if it's possible to use freelook with a smartphone in some way? I mean, it should theoretically be possible right?

What do you mean? To employ the smartphone camera as a webcam? My guess is if you find software that makes the computer think that it is a webcam it will work.

No, he's using the accelerometer or whatever to make a joystick. I'm talking about about using the touch of the phone to use freelook, but instead of using something like TrackIR using the touchscreen to look in directions.

I guess that won't be possible but I can't see how that would be useful, it would mean that you have to use one hand to touch the screen which probably is easier to just use the 7,8,9 keys on the keyboard when flying.

Nah, I would use my thumb while having my other 3 finger on wasd. And the other hand on the mouse. I think it would work.

Simple File Sharing and Storage.

I've followed everything you've said, yet I can't get it to move the characters head ingame. I'm using TrackIR and not FaceTrackNoIR, though that shouldn't be the problem? The Freelook program is detecting the game, yet no joy.
If you've got any tips, that'd be great.

Where are you trying to move his head? You can only do it while in an aircraft. And jeeps and trucks etc.
