Awesome. If any of the planets harbor life, can we go there and kill it? Do you need a license? I'm asking for a friend.

The 40 year (at light speed) trip would be rough. But worth it if I could get a couple of space deer tags.

For some reason this made me very happy when I first read about it.
If they get the proper funding, they'll build what it takes to get there. Carl Sagan's COSMOS presented a ship that is already designed to travel a distance of 40 ly in about 40 years and can be made but it is quite expensive and requires nuclear detonations in near space and that is something that apparently all nations have agreed not to do.. There's one way to use nuclear weapons for a good cause, and it's illegal. Imagine that.

Crazy to think how short their years are and distance to sun.

There is no such ship, you can't reach light speed with nuclear detonations, but yet it is very possible to reach a good fraction of it maybe 20%.

I would love to be the janitor on that ship.

I think the relativity would make the trip significantly faster from the crews POV.

You can never reach the speed of light, you can only ever get close to it, I believe the ship in question can reach less than 5% of it. So I went to check out the name from Sagan's Cosmos' episode and it seems the project's name is Project Orion. Bear in mind this was a project from the 1950s so it is quite outdated. There are probably way more viable options right now, but this just proves that interstellar travel is not science fiction.
