About Thales F90, we don't have any one to build it, so you should have a local subcontractor that is making the gun under licence.

For the Felin, it is a complete gear, and just the gun scope need to be adapt, this is quite simple.

I am not military, so i don't have more information than the press or rumor from coworker that have an eyes on military stuff.
The article linked states that the gun could be made by Beretta
Quote:
ce dernier pourrait etre fabrique par l'Italien Beretta
So it actually isn't sure that Beretta will make the gun. However the article clearly states that the new rifle won't be produced in France.

Edit: These articles are a bit more precise: http://www.20minutes.fr/economie/172...emplacer-famas

http://www.la-croix.com/Actualite/Ec...-10-13-1368062

Basically, for those who can't read French, only one French company applied for the production of the future rifle as France's small arms industry vanished in the past decades. The company in question, Verney Carron, wasn't considered economically strong enough in order to ensure the maintenance of the rifles for 30 years as well as a production rate of 16000 rifles a year. In addition to that, the second article states that the company offered an Israeli design build under license (Probably the Tavor TAR).

The DGA (Direction Generale de l'Armement or General Management of Armament in English) needs to decide in 2016 which company will build and maintain the future 90000 rifles of the French armed forces. So according to these sources, one of these companies will build the future rifle: Beretta Defense Technologies (Italy), FN Herstal (Belgium), Heckler und Koch (Germany), HS Produkt (Croatia) or Swiss Arms (Switzerland).

Would be cool if the Frenchies would do another collab with the Bundeswehr for the new rifle, kind of what they did with the KMW/Nexter fusion for a new generation MBT.

Beretta offered the ARX-160 to the FDF as a possible replacement of our RK95 and RK62 rifles. Here's a summary of how that whole thing went down:

Quote:
Beretta licked up to a few Finnish politicians (including the current defence minister) by offering "assembly" of the ARX-160 by Sako (part of Beretta these days) in Finland.

Dumb politicians and media that doesn't know jack shit about firearms love the damn thing and have dubbed it as a "super rifle" that would bring jobs to Finland (assembling parts kits basically... lol).

The army hates the bulky plastic piece of shit and wants nothing to do with it.

I guess we'll just have to wait and see.
Quote:
User feedback during the evaluations was overwhelmingly negative, the ergonomics especially were disliked. The weapon kept jamming and freezing. The polymer construct of the whole body of the rifle was squeaky when you handled and twisted it in your hands.

Not to mention the shitty polymer stock cracked during evaluation, not once, but twice... Army dropped it from the evaluations as soon as they possibly could and opted for the FN SCAR-L (which interestingly enough, had none of the problems the ARX-160 had) instead for special forces. HK-416 also got very positive feedback.

Procuring over 230 000 rifles is a big-ass procurement for a small country like Finland so unfortunately the meddling politicians will have a say in the matter, which means there's a chance (because the media and politicians are really hyped about this "super rifle") that the ARX-160 might replace the current RK's as a general infantry assault rifle around 2020 when the choice is to be made.

So far Beretta has only managed to sell the rifle to: Albania, Kazakhstan, Mexico, Turkmenistan, Egypt and Italy. The latter only bought 30 000 rifles probably to support domestic manufacturing.
So yeah.. good luck with that Frenchies.

Here's a review by TheFirearmBlog: http://www.thefirearmblog.com/blog/2...rx-100-review/ they weren't too impressed either.
