This is not even the same class of helicopter as UH60. So I dont get it how it will replace it. Its like MV22 and UH60 had babies.

Can't see this as replacement, just as Massive said. Do they really need a bit smaller version of Osprey? I don't think so. If they still do it, then conclusion would be fuck the military, we are making money from selling this to the government.

Ok, speed is nice, but from it's size, I kinda feel there will be a lot more logistical and practical use problems.
I think UH-60, even old as hell, does what is has to do, its powerful with all upgrades and can land/access places (limited spaces), where V-280 would have problems.

But all of this is my speculations. Maybe I am dead wrong and military wants this, and it can do all what UH-60 can and even better.

Not that I know much about this stuff, I would assume that a tiltroter aircraft would make more sense replacing a heavy helicopter like the CH-47F than something relatively small like the Black Hawk.

What is with the new tiltrotor designs only having the actual rotor rotate, with very limited rotation and lots of extra gears and bearings to make it rotate, instead of having the entire nacelle rotate like on the V-22, which seams a far simpler and more elegant engineering solution, which also provides some extra lift I assume from the turboprops exhaust also pointed downwards, instead of being fixed backwards like on this design?

But ye, as this being a replacement for the UH-60, couldn't be a direct replacement since its too big, which at the very least, stops it from replacing the SH-60 Sea Hawk at the very least, even if the Army didn't mind it couldn't land in as many spots etc due to its size. But ye, main advantage of tilt rotors are naturally range and speed, so I can see why they might replace the UH-60 with this for the Army at least, but I doubt it would be a full replacement, with them most likely keeping a bunch in service for ops where they need to land in smaller areas.

I also suspect this would cost a lot more than BH's so that range and speed would mean less airframes. Maybe as a Osprey successor, but the Osprey is used by the USMC when assaulting from sea so its extra range may be more useful there.

Isn't the Osprey extra expensive because of this exact same configuration?

Why make it simple when it can be complicated? This thing will need 3 times the space that a Blackhawk could land on.
