Update: Project Reality: BF2 - Winter Is Coming!

The award winning Project Reality team is proud to announce that winter is coming to Project Reality!

After we released PR:BF2 v1.0, the Project Reality Team talked to several community members. A strong focus of the conversations were new map environments. After previous successes of Winter-themed map packs, the decision to integrate arctic warfare into Project Reality was the obvious choice.
We are proud to announce that Project Reality now officially features a snow themed map: Dovre Winter!

A lot of improvements were made to bring an authentic winter experience into the realms of Battlefield 2. The team worked hard on new textures, effects and sounds. We have also been working to improve the code in order to bring realistic behavior on the new added surfaces. Time to get your snow tires and watch your speed or you might fly off the road!

Sadly all those new textures, effects, sounds, etc. are increasing the size of the mod by a huge amount. In order to keep it within a reasonable margin, the team decided to remove an old map. Long discussions have been made, but in the end it got decided to remove "Kashan Desert". The team no longer sees the need for this map in Project Reality as it is no longer up to the standard of other maps and features nothing that is not covered by newer maps.

We are sad to see an old friend go, but at the same time excited for the new maps to come within the snowy biome!
