However, the supposedly "new AK-12" is not AK-12 of initially presented advanced version at all, but instead rather just modified old AK-74M. Lots of features presented in previous AK12 version are gone, like ambidexter controls, 3 fire and safety modes in one selector stick, magazine ejector button near right hand finger, ability to quickly reload with one left hand, no opening gap near the shells ejector hole etc - all gone.

Probably Defence Ministry thought its too costly to adopt entirely new weapon which is not compatible with old AK weapon parts which are kept by millions in storages.

(its probably time to start modelling it for Russian Faction already, since modelling takes a lot of time anyway haha)

tbh the only thing the ak74 needed a better mechanism to lock the bolt to the rear and a winter trigger like the sig 510.

All I could find is, the latest ak12 has now additional 'two bullets' firing mode that is main fundamental difference from ak74m, the rest is just cosmetic stuff which could be installed on ak74m as well via "Obves" package add-ons. 2 bullets firing mode supposedly lets the gunner be more accurate, as first 2 bullets go to the target while the 3rd and the rest usually go off target and are wasted.

There is also some changes in gas chamber to improve accuracy, but visually it can't be seen.

So yeah, its practically the same AK74m in look and overall mostly
