I'll laugh though if the US advances and England doesn't. That's trolling on a whole new level.

IMO USA is the main joker in every world cup. Nobody's taking them serious although they have great potential.

I'm glad France is out. They didn't deserve a place in this year's world cup in the first place. They only made it through the qualifications by pure "luck".

They qualified with 7 points over the team under them. How is that luck? Did I miss some thing here?

Tomorrow I'll finally stop hearing about this world cup rubbish when England either draw or lose. :p

Shamble of a team, doesn't deserve to win. or even get past the group stages.

Brazil winning nets me £20 though, so c'mon BRAZIL!

Yes, they were second of their group with 7 points but they won with Henry's handball during the play-offs ;)

That's pure waste, the Irish would have played at least at 100% this world cup...

That was to get into the play-off stages which has a rather trivial point system in my opinion. When you score a goal via a hand ball because opposing players practically stop playing due to it's obviousness that the ref never saw, yes....that's luck. The performance seen in the world cup only reinforces that point.

for lulz.....from the Pizza Hut Ireland facebook page....

Red card for Gourcuff was well, shit. Also am i the only one noticing the african origin of the french team, theese players come from countries diferent than France theyr poor performance may be due to the fact they dont care about France and they will make more money in theyr clubs for a week than they will if they win the world cup.

I would be suprised if. While Nort Korea is maybe the worst and most repressive nation on the earth they are not super duper woooper evil. In the same way as they are fed with propaganda about the bad bad USA we are fed with propaganda about NK. We know to little to be sure they will all be killed (I doubt it though, they might be violent, power hungry and sad, but stupid, not really)

You need to watch some docus about people who have escaped that place, it is worse than most can imagine. 7-0 loss is bad news for that team in the eyes of dear leader. Labor camps are not nice.

Sad, messi had two great Goals options, both Missed.

AH, kinda bad that Greece didnt make it, i like them, more than S Korea, a country that DOESNT deserve their current position atm.

Nigeria was cool, i heard Nigeria-Korea match was awesome

Don't know how you can prefer Greece to SK tbh, at least SK give it a go whilst Greece are so negative it is embarrasing. Definitely never deserved a place in the last 16, whilst I feel SK do based on their enterprising and ambitious football.

Re: 2010 FIFA World Cup South Africa

The consequences of bad performance by football teams under maniacal dictatorships is not a joke. The Iraqi team during the 80's/90's was run by Saddam Hussein's son, Uday. Let's see how he dealt with bad performance shall we?

Quote:

He missed. Two days after the team returned to Baghdad, Zair was summoned to the headquarters of the country's Olympic committee, the lair of Uday Hussein, eldest son of Saddam and the leading personality in Iraqi sport.

He was blindfolded, and taken away to a prison camp for three weeks. He shrugged: "End of story."
Quote:

Uday - as chairman of the Iraqi Football Federation - included threats to cut off players' legs. Missing practice sessions, even to attend a sick child or funeral, meant prison. A loss brought flogging with electric cable, or a bath in raw sewage. And always at the back of the players' minds was the knowledge that Uday was watching.
Quote:

Star performers, such as captain Habib Jaffar, familiar to an entire generation of children from his picture on packets of chewing gum, were singled out for particular punishment. "I was punished more than anyone else," he said. His multiple incarcerations included the standard beatings with lengths of electric cable while performing press-ups, being made repeatedly to climb a 20-metre ladder and jump into a vat of raw sewage.

Its always good to be critical minded.

Have you seen the Red Chapel?

Anyway, a bit sad to see the host nation out of the tournament already.

Maybe that will mean less vuvuzela?

Regarding the french team, I think its sad that the entire case blew up as it did. The pressure must be gigantic on those players. I mean, have you tried to play with the pressure on you in the PR tourney...smallest tourney out there. Not like a world cup.

England Slovinia, in not that many hours from now,...interesting match it will be.

May the best team win.

THough one of the players with the lowest earning on the French team that played gets more money every year then then most people in the PR forum will get in a lifetime. They are paid alot, alot more then many other athletes who trains more and is even more serious and into the sport then they are, the pressure of a penalty I can understand, but a whole match?

Its really no excuse for not atleast get to the knock out rounds when you are france or England. Especially when you are not in the death group, I mean Armenia, Honduras, mexico etc. should not be someone you loose or even tie with in the world cup when you have names like Rooney, Henry, Ribery, Gerrard and so on.

Will Slovenia play offensively or defensively in this match?

What system will the English team deploy?

We got some good football ahead.

Re: 2010 FIFA World Cup South Africa

Round 1

SUPER GOALLLL USA!!!!

WHAT!!!

AGAIN OFFSIDE!!!

Pause comments

Algeria did deploy some quite good offensive play, however, USA was good at counterattacking and also have had some really good chances. Bad luck with that double US-final-shoot-player deployed it self. Looked like an upcomming great goal.

I am not sure how much info is given to the players on the field, in regard to the English goal, but after that goal deployed, it seemed like both team went for the offensive, even more than already.

Anyone know if the players somehow get that info while playing?

Round 2

I predict hardcore offensive play from both sides - looks like its going to be interesting.

Algeria under heavy pressure now - both teams have great fighting spirit

This is not a boxing match!!!

GOOOOOOOAAALLLLLLLLLL LAST MINUTE GOOOOAAALLL!!!!!!

That Red card is well deserved - Algeria shows what bottom line is its weak links in discipline. Way to aggressive behaviour against the referee.

Conclusion

Great football. All the ups and downs deployed. Two very equal teams in my opinion. And yes, I am aware that the USA team did create significant more chances than did Algeria - or at least that's how it seems right now, haven't seen any stats yet, but Algeria did defend it self and furthermore deployed some useful counterattacks too.

As I see it right now; had the US team not won the match, thus the draw most thought would be the outcome, then everybody would have pointed the criticism to the US team, simply due to its many unsuccessful opportunities.

That was a good fight!

Sad to see Algeria leave, but its the game. Algeria - i think, will focus on how to create player discipline, staying calm and the rest. Should that be the case in the future, i predict a strong return from Algeria.

Is US leading the Group now? England won by 1 goal right?
