Comparing a TV-show with football... This team was representing our nation on the most important football competition in the world. If they would have won, the whole nation would have won (just as they say now Spain won the world cup), they are second in the world (vice-champions with a nice word) and they achieved a lot.

I am not sure what your definition of 'every time' is, but the last time the national team got a welcome like that was 22 years ago, in 1988.

They are also sportsmen, who want to win. They came really close to the world cup, and the sad mood ruled among the men. I don't see why they shouldn't get a party for getting that far and that close to the world cup.
But hey, whatever, if you don't like that, you just don't. I am just happy they did got fun out of it and appreciated it. With that I have said enough about it.
