that was really a strange match. england vs usa.

YouTube - Robert Green failed - England vs. USA
the result was 1 : 1

i think, a "greencard" would be good for him now, cause if he comes back to england, he'll get some trouble :D

Re: 2010 FIFA World Cup South africa.

At least Green didnt make that mistake in a finals match [looks at beckham] and David Seaman always made huge cockups for England in tournaments and hes regarded as one of their best of the past few generations.

Fact is, everyone makes mistakes - EVERYONE.

And England lost their first match in 1966, which was the year they won, so is all good bro'

Green is a genius! You just fail to realize it :)

Why is USA going to play Argentina?

I think England was superior they didn't deserve a ty game... actually i dont deserve a ty game either since i gamble for ENGLAND to win over USA!!!!

FFS!!!! 3 points to the trash!!

Re: 2010 FIFA World Cup South africa.

it was unlucky i think England did deserve to win that match but mistakes happen and we didnt lose just be happy of that. If we can win our next 2 matches we should be through at top of the table. It was a cracking match and i loved every minute(minus the american goal)

How was the SK game boring? It was an absolute joy to see South Korea play the way they did.

So how does that work now?
You got a 1-1, so no winner.
Do they just say "y'all can go to the next round" or "Ok, re-match"????

Win: 3 points
Tie: 1 point
Lose: 0 points

Basically you have 3 group matches for each team, then number 1 and 2 in each group gets to the eliminate matches, where a win means the winning team is one match closer the final. A tie after 90 played minutes, gets decided by whats called silver goal or penalty kick if the silver goal does not decide. In silver goal they are playing a 15 minute periode if someone has a lead they win after 15 minutes, if not another 15 minutes is played, if that does not settle it, we have penalties, then you get 5 penalties taken from 11 meter, if another team for example have scored 3 goals in the penalty competition and the other team 0 the 3 goal scoring team wins without all 5 penalties taken as the other team have no chance of getting back up. Mostly 4 or 5 penalties are taken though.

If its still a tie they continue taking penalties until a team miss and the other team scores on the same number of penalties.

Re: 2010 FIFA World Cup South africa.

Group C is playing its final first matches today right?

Algeria vs Slovenia?

Algeria, whose team experienced that Egyptian fans threw stones after them when that match vs Egypt was deployed, and Slovenia, the tournaments smallest country, thus the perfect underdog to take out the giants.

Alone from that perspective, interesting match.

say, how does this work...should either Algeria or Slovenia win big? Does that in anyway influence England/USA?

Im initially on the small country´s side on this one.

Round 1

Is it just me, or is there a lot of skirmish fighting going on so far...if that word can be used in football-language?

Pause comments

Seems like both teams have difficulties with the ball it self?

Loads of miss-shoots and the ball has been deployed outside the field numerous times.

Will the team-adaptation to the Jabulani ball, become the determing factor in this match?

***

Round 2

RED CARD!

Slovenia deploys pressure now!

No?, Slovenia decides not to push their pressure???

GOOOAAALL!!

Interesting match, interesting match

1 - 0

Congratulations Slovenia!

Group C

Lead nation so far: Slovenia

It is done on a points system. 1 point for a draw, 3 points for a win. When everyone in each group has played each other the team with the most points goes through.

No I think you're absolutely right. It's mainly due to fear I think of losing your opening game, teams just can't take any risks because if they lose then they are all but screwed from the outset and they just can't take that risk even if it means pushing for the win. This means the teams just kind of spar off against one another without really trying to land a killer blow.

We'll see far more open games later in the group stages when nothing but a win will do.

Ghana leading Serbia now, 1-0.

Deserved lead on balance imo, I think they've been a much better team than Serbia and it was a stonewall penalty that led to it.

Serbia didn't play as well as they could have. - and that was such a blatant foul in the box, i'm not sure why he was even trying to argue with the ref about it. Way to go Ghana

Re: 2010 FIFA World Cup South africa.

Italy is gonna win. They defended it once, it can happen again  . The world cup has been hit and miss so far. Many people dont like the Vuzuvelas, but for the duration of the worldcup Iam gonna enjoy it. Other than that I am somewhat spoiled by the championsleagues, where the best teams money can buy compete against each other. Like Inter, not one Italian in the field.

But I guess if there is no Chicago native playing for the Bulls nobody cares either.

Looking forward to the match between Germany and Australia. :D
Hopefully it will be as epic as the PR Worldcup match between us and Australia/NZ.
It was so thrilling, I'll never forget this one.

Yes, 18 hours from now.

Sadly, too many of our players aren't in tip top shape...damages as the cause.

Netherlands can also deploy a very strong team, no doubt on that account.

One must remember that Netherlands has twice as big a player pool availble, than do we, so...who knows? - probably classical concentrated Danish Defense, followed up with some counterattacks here and there?

Hopefully Morten Olsen has deployed a useful plan.

Big day tomorrow.

May the best team win!

Well thats what you get for fouling the national teamcaptain so bad, that he cant play in the World Cup.

Its even partly the reason why his brother doesnt talk to him anymore.
