Im glad we wont have to face them in the first group.

OMG! Its us tommorrow!!!!

Although I do agree, and Cahill did not deserve a red.

Yes me too actually, but thats the game...you win or you loose.

The Aussi team actually kept its morale high, which is important to notice in such a situation. Out of that can not only hope emerge, but also change.

True game-dicipline, IMO, is only seen when in defeat. Think of the Algerian-Slovenian match today, here you had an Algerian player who used his hand on the ball. That to me, is a sign of a low game-dicipline.

But thats just my opinion.

***

I hope we will show game-dicipline in some 14-15 hours from now when we face the Netherlands.

What hand ball?

But yeah i too felt that the mexican referee was a bit pro germany.
Nevertheless theyve played a better football. I was a bit scared at the beginning because it looked like the would be overrun by the offensive Australians. But that changed with the 1:0, which was an offside though. The red card for cahill was too much. He did a few fouls before, but none of them would have justified the card. And after the 3:0 the Aussies seemed broken. They didnt go for the ball at all.

But in the end its still...WON!

Algeria vs Slovenia?

Algeria, whose team experienced that Egyptian fans threw stones after them when that match vs Egypt was deployed, and Slovenia, the tournaments smallest country, thus the perfect underdog to take out the giants.

Alone from that perspective, interesting match.

say, how does this work...should either Algeria or Slovenia win big? Does that in anyway influence England/USA?

Im initially on the small country´s side on this one.

Round 1

Is it just me, or is there a lot of skirmish fighting going on so far...if that word can be used in football-language?

It looks so far as your right.

Pause comments

Seems like both teams have difficulties with the ball it self?

Loads of miss-shoots and the ball has been deployed outside the field numerous times.

Round 2

RED CARD!

Slovenia deploys pressure now!

No?, Slovenia decides not to push their pressure???

GOOOAAALL!!

Interesting match, interesting match

****

1 - 0

Congratulations Slovenia!

Group C

Lead nation so far: Slovenia

The match was a total disaster. It was pure luck that we won. I mean seriously, our guys got 9/10 passes wrong and put the ball nicely to Aglerians feet. Our guys can play quite good from time to time but we lack the proffesionals.

USA will most likely beat us but England... I am /facepalm when just thinking of it.

Midfielder An Yong-hak knows North Korea will be up against it when they face Brazil but believes they still have a shot at a shocking upset.

The East Asians kick-off their Group G campaign against the five-time World Cup winners next Tuesday before facing Portugal and the Ivory Coast.

Few are expecting North Korea, who are making their first appearance at the finals since 1966, to come away from their match with Brazil with anything but a defeat.

And though An knows it will be difficult to create a shock in Johannesburg, he does not believe it will be impossible.

Nice game. :D

I saw the game with my brother and we were like totally surprised because we thought that they would perform poorly. I mean they already kinda left a lot to promise before the world cup and now with Ballack out of the tournament... chances didn't looked so good.

But boy.... that display of teamwork was awesome. So awesome it was almost scary....

I quite enjoyed that game. Somehow the German team always does what nobody expects in todays football. They take a standard situation and just whack that sphere into the big box.
I think its quite amazing how nobody seems to do that anymore. I mean lets face it, Germany definetly doesnt have the best players in the world, but at least they know how to apply tactics well in a game.

Enough ranting... i was just really frustrated after the England match(where its perhaps the other way round: big players, wrong tactics)

Looking forward to the North Koreans :D

First thing first.

Congratulations Netherlands!

Very well played football...as expected.

Not easy for an underdog-team to go up against a football giant. But still, a challenge one wouldent miss for the world.

Well that's what happens when the underdog team finds out that their deployed defensive plan actually works.

1st half was completely by the defensive book

- Concentration on our half

- Diagonal deliveries

- Less focus on close play

- Focus on covering each Dutch player

- Focus on making the Dutch players run

- Focus on trying to frustrate the Dutch team

- Focus on slowing the match down in speed, so the Dutch could not make use of their über offensive skills

The Pause

I can just imagine Morten Olsen, our team trainer/planner, with that content/proud face-experession "I told you so guys", to the team.

See, everybody here was moe than satisified with the outcome of first half.

Then - people - even on a underdog team - can get too happy with the outcome of what seems like a good plan - with the fatal consequence, of letting their guards down...as we became witnesses to, in the beginning of 2nd half.

However, the fact that it became a self goal was a sad surprise.

2nd half (first minute or so) was completly by the satisfied defensive book

- Self-Goal within the first 60 seconds

2nd half (the reamining time) was completly by the desperate book

- Freeze factor deployed it self

- Fight factor tried to deploy it self

- Fatigue & Frustration-factors determined the outcome of the remaining Danish efforts

So I just came back from watching Netherlands - Denmark.

In the beginning the Denmark was VERY strong. Though I think overal it wasn't a very good match, specialy in the beginning. Too much ball loss and it wasn't very fluental (if that is not an English word I'm sorry :D )

Was funny that everywere on the streets people were wearing orange clothes. Very nice to see.
