Same here. It looks like a heart.
It's all subjective though. For instance, this guy is of an entirely different opinion. |

Re: 2010 FIFA World Cup South Africa
Makes me sad the dutch lost. The dutch football experts improve football all over the world and the dutch saw only a title once for it. I think a dutch was involved in founding the Barca football school.
At least somebody won their first World cup title rather than Brazil getting the sixtht star. |
Re: 2010 FIFA World Cup South Africa
Looks like the party is over, now lets wait till euro 2012 :)

Re: 2010 FIFA World Cup South Africa
Euro 2012 will be uber fail, nothing and no-one in Poland (and Ukraine) is ready for it. There are no highways, not enough hotels but more important-the stadiums won't be completed on time. At least not in Poland

Re: 2010 FIFA World Cup South Africa
something different: no one has proposes for an international dreamteam set up regarding efforts during the 2010championship?

Re: 2010 FIFA World Cup South Africa
Oh wow, that's...surprising in a positive manner. Last time I was in Warsaw (about 9 months ago) not much has been done to be honest, but it looks like they did accelerate with the work, I'm very happy to see that...all tho you know Aquiller how things get done in Poland, everything seems fine now, but in the future some "problems" might occur. Hope not.
But about the highways I'm dead sure they won't reach the deadline, Poland will see the biggest traffic jams and accident rate in our history. That frightens me a bit. BTW: just saw the Dutch team fly over my house in a Chinook and a Eurocopter, accompanied by what seemed to be a Alouette III and a Bell 412. Apparently they landed on a military airstrip to meet the queen. |

Edit: Did you also saw the 'orange lion' they put on the side of that Cougar? |
Re: 2010 FIFA World Cup South Africa
Yeah, pretty neat.
I even have a vid but but it was made with my phone so you can't see anything. My father actually told me he met the team, because they landed in the military base right next to the NATO facility where he works. I should of asked him for an autograph from Robben :( |
Re: 2010 FIFA World Cup South Africa

Link (in Dutch) to photo's of today. Fighter escort, being flown with a Chinook and a Cougar, speech from the PM, visiting our queen, military band, music artists, boat trip, and many, many (~500.000) cheering fans. I am sure they won't forget this day. BBC link

I really think this is a bit over the top. Patriotism ok, but this is just a waste of money.

What wrong with landing and going home? At the end of the day they're just playing a game, and they didn't win it. They're not heroes, this kind of attention would be undeserved, even for the winners. |

Man, I'm Dutch, I think it's cool and such to honor the national team, but this is just over the top. Elaborate and too expensive. |

I think the team got what they deserved. They got very far in the cup after all, they were very disappointed that they didn't win, but I'm 100% sure this kind of welcoming was the best gift they could receive from their fans. It showed them that even tho they didn't win, they did something extraordinary and many, many people appreciate their effort. This might even motivate them more for the next World Cup. |

You're right, I don't get it. The cast of Seinfeld entertained millions of people every episode they did and I didn't see them get a parade every time they drove home from the set at night. Is the obscene amount of money they are being payed for playing games not enough of a thank you for them? |

This is the part I'm having problems wrapping my head around. To me it just seems like living vicariously through others. I don't recognize any representation for myself so I can't view it this way. My view is that if I'm not personally playing on the team that wins, then I have no claim to pride. |
