Hey..my first blog entry
Anyway, I started my career in Project Reality nearly 2 years ago, at first I was simply playing the game and after a while I got interested in making maps even that I wasn't particularly good at it..lets be honest - I sucked at it
This is the only surviving image of my attempt at mapping

After a while I just abandoned my mapping project and went back to playing until one day Tesher[many veteran members will remember him] suggested that we make a IDF community mod, back then there were not so many mods - just the Canadians, Polish & Russian.
It seemed like a good idea - I started poking around seeing if people are interested in modeling & skinning for IDF and oddly enough there was enough interest.
Me & THE.FIST started in what was in my opinion a bad mistake - we made a vehicle first - the Golan.

I personally believe we should have started with hand held weapons..but what was done was done, soon after the Golan was playable we received our own IDF forum and things picked speed.
The hardest part in making community mods is finding reliable people to work, we must remember that people work on this with their own free will on - I'v had many times that simple tasks took abnormal amount of time to be done - and times that complicated tasks were completed fast.
Another frequent occurrence is people that are eager to work and ask for the files - and they will never be heard from again :(
Word of advice to our community mods - never give up, determination will get you through times of no progression, managing a community mod is a very hard task that requires communication skills and determination and at times and can put your nerves to the test.
There will be hard times and there will be good times - the important thing is to keep moving forward!
Heres a example of combined community work

The rifle is TAR-21, It has magnifier of x3 zoom and MARS.
This rifle was actually done 3 times.. the first 2 were scrapped for various reasons.
The current TAR-21 body was made by [R-CON]THE.FIST, he also made the MARS sight for it, the magnifier was the work of Lachtan.
[R-DEV]Chuc animated our baby.
The pistol is Jericho, it was done by [R-CON]THE.FIST
Last but not least is the LAW, combined work of [R-CON]THE.FIST and Lachtan.

Negev LMG model by [R-DEV]z-trooper
And now to future work..This is all WIP in their early stages -
Israeli Modification of the German ARMBURST - Matador
Its being worked by Lachtan

How soldiers are born - through allot of hard work! [R-CON]THE.FIST will certainly testify that its hard work

Very cool work. I'm mainly happy with the soldier models, tbh. The reliance on DICE's models provides many limitations, and with the kit-geometry-swapping of 0.85, the need for independent models grows.
Keep up the good workPosted 2009-03-20 at 19:49 by McBumLuv -
