The major Australian PC gaming magazine PC PowerPlay featured Project Reality in a four-page long article in their September issue.

The editor even took his time to speak to individual members of the Development team, so check it out!

That is awesome. Is that the same mag that has mentioned PR before?

Edit; Done reading. Was a really good article, I know it would make me want to try PR.

Yes, the PR is something more than a simple shooter. Sometimes to be a Squad leader, you must take it like real job to lead your men to victory. You must stay focused while you are under fire and your squad mate is trying to say something and the commander in the same time is giving an orders.

"Take the decidedly arcade
experience of the vanilla game and turn
it into something for real men."

Mmm.... I like this part.

Wow, good job guys - I'm a regular reader of PC Powerplay (though I haven't read this issue) and I know there's a lot of other New Zealanders and probably Aussies that do, so hopefully that'll bring in some more to PR.

Daniel Hindes (aka ThePhotoshop, the guy who wrote this) used to play PR reguarly. He has some great tactics videos @ The Project Reality Diaries (http://projectrealitydiaries.blogspot.com/)

It has been mentioned before in the magazine but we didn't see a rise in the number of players though.

Was basically going to repeat this, I was pretty heavily involved in the PCPP online community and I've played a couple rounds of PR with ThePhotoshop before. Knowadays though I don't think he has the time to play the game and last I heard he was playing a lot of TF2 (Stark contrast aye :P)

I saw this issue last time I was in the newsagents but didn't end up buying it despite seeing the article. Ironically I went in today before reading this thread hoping it was still on sale but I found December's issue instead :(

I'm looking forward to the torrential influx of idiotic gamers who think they are playing CoD or MoH. The community still hasn't recovered from the "great influx of 19- 0.8"
when thousands of casual FPS players were thrown into the mix because of an advert message on vBF2 main menu, and it is getting worse with PR's increasing publicity.

Am I saying I only want a handful of people playing this game? Hell no. Am I saying that those who don't understand it should leave it alone until they do? Absolutely.

Before I touched this mod, I was already in exactly the right place to start with it, from playing games like Rainbow Six Rogue Spear and Ravenshield, Ghost Recon, Delta Force 1 and 2, SWAT 3, Farcry, Age of Empires, Total Annihilation, Forgotten hope 1, Battlegroup 42, and Desert Combat.

Most of the long time PR vets probably recognize or have played many of these games, because they all fit in with PR's ethos. Now however, the repertoire of most gamers starting PR is: CoD, Halo, Gears of War, Team Fortress 2, L4D, GTA etc.

More than anything, I encourage players wishing to, or starting PR to play other tactical FPSes or any other realistic war games, because you can't truly play PR well without an intimate understanding of infantry tactics, battlefield strategy, and unit coordination.

BTW, the article was really good, despite me being a cranky ass.

verry nice article, but why did they have to mension that one thing everybody wants in the BF2 version but is not possible, i bet were gonna get some more post with i want that.
ofcourse you all know what i mean. the fastrope.
