Not for much longer.

Well, it's with great pleasure that I present to the Project Reality world, an asset that was kindly lent to us from the devs down at Firearms: Source, to replace the vanilla M24 in 0.95.

A little disclaimer about the change from the vanilla magazine fed M24 to the internal magazine counterpart.

Ninja2dan;1429834']There's nothing wrong with using the original version of the M24 either. While the M24A2 is being used by a large number of troops, you'll still see the original in the hands of many US Army snipers around the world. Many soldiers, myself included, prefer the internal fixed magazine and will continue using those rifles until they are removed from inventory (which I don't see happening any time soon).

Eddie Baker;1429992']There's no need for a box magazine, as the US Army has made no official adoption of that upgrade, to my knowledge. I think rounds are fed into the internal magazine individually, since I don't know if they use stripper clips for the match grade rounds.

M24A2 and M24A3 are marketing names by Remington and they have not been adopted and type-classified by the DoD. One non-SOF unit (I think 25th ID) purchased M24A3s with AICS stocks in .300 Win Mag or .338 Lapua (I'll have to check), but again, this is not Army wide.

The model we have from firearms is basically the correct model.

Can't really be seen in that video, but I've used it in test builds and it's got loads of scratches on it. The bolt looks like it's been cycled a million times as well :p

if you've ever reloaded a magazine its easier and quicker to grab a handful (in this case 5) and then feed them through your hand and push them in, the animation doesn't look perfect (as it'd be hard to replicate the hands movements exactly) but it's still very good

It does look a bit too 'artificial (the woodland version), in regards to that are they even painted in that manner in the Army?

Great work as always, just have a one question, is it me or is the magnification on the scope same as the m21? Or is that still in works. Nevertheless awesome textures and thank you very much Firearms: Source for providing this model :) We will enjoy this for a long long time :)

I think you guys should wait until you've played the damn game before you start criticizing things that you're not even sure are as you think they are. You think from a 360p video you can discern all the minute details of a texture? I think not.

Nice to see this model here, I'll have to thank naota next time I see him on vent.

I brought that up when they showed the SV98 and the scoped bolting for the first time. Apparently its a technical nightmare to animate the hand inside the scoped view, so they botched realism for ease of use.

And yes, the bolt is magically moving about.

Lol @ 0:25 "look ma, no hands!". (I hope you don't take that seriously, I'm joking around :)). Great job on the gun, textures look awesome, but I don't get why the woodland version has camo and the others not. I look forward to seeing this, the Germans, the AK47 + GP-25, the SV-98, the BMP-3, Makarov, and hopefully APS in 0.95 :).

The woodland one is the FAS texture, which is why it has camo. The others are PR textures, which are more matte overall.

Chuc;1404280']Putting a hand in there will begin to introduce it's own problems, because the 3D scope view is actually a super-enlarged copy of the original model, and if you put the hand into view it would be tiny compared to the scope model.

Is the scope and sound just a filler atm? I thought US Army used a Mil-Dot type scope. And it sounds unusually like the current MEC Sniper which might be a tad confusing ingame. Don't know if this is just my sound system or not.

i dont see what is not to like about these textures? if they were any more worn looking i'd say it was the insurgents weapon! and people are complaining about an animation that is barely visible while scoped LOL.... i would ignore them and know that some of us can see the great work!

yes the flickering is a by-product, since the scope you see in scope-in mode is as stated by the devs an enlarged version (actually form a logical point of view, it would have to be a smaller version) of the original scope, since the zoom means everything is made bigger, so the scope would actually have to be smaller than the original one, right?
