Up Armoured Hummer is kinda low priority (since its really just an addition to something we already have) but its being worked on slowly. Pride is working on the Texture at the moment but he also has his Exams coming up and is also working on some stuff that is a little more important.

PS. Love the sig Rico. I couldn't help just wathcing it over and over again laughing my ass off

Its probably balanced. Its a bigger helicopter so it will most likely be less maneuverable than other helis with rockets (ex. Little Bird)

not-so-distant Project Reality releasesounds good to me!:)
I do remember some model highlights on the m14 EBR and a new dragunov with bipod from before the 0.9 release, never heard anything about those anymore, are they still in development or are they rated low-priority?

The Panther looks amazing - PRAA will do it much more justice than BF2 though I think

The CSB's - why not just butcher a CR2 model and take the turret off and whack the bridge model on top instead of having it come from inside a logi truck???

Rhino explained why in his highlight thread.

Rhino;1364970']Ingame we are not have any of these specialized vehicles for quite a simple reason, we do not have enough players ingame to crew bridge launching vehicles with also carrying out all the other tasks required ingame already. As such we have simplified it by giving the task of carrying and deploying these CSBs to the logistics trucks since they are pretty close to a Tank Bridge Transporter, other than you cant see a huge section of bridge on the back of them and it gives the Logistics truck anouther useful role ingame to encourage players to play that role more.

Rhino
2010-06-20, 04:21
Thank you Snazz, but Burton I suggest you read that topic because it explains it in more detail since a TBT (Tank Bridge Transporter) is basically a truck that can carry CSBs which I mention in that quote the logi truck isn't too far off.

It also wouldn't be just a matter of "butchering" a Challenger 2 if we did go down that rout. We might be able to get away with having every faction using the same type of CSB even thou in r/l pretty much each faction has there own unique one, but we certianlly wouldn't be able to get away with having the Chinese deploying bridges with a Challenger 2 and we would have to make a AVLB (Armoured Vehicle Launched Bridge) for every single faction which would be a huge amount of work and then for what, to have a bunch of players taken away from the front line to deploy bridges in a vehicle that will only be used a few times in a round for that job?

With using the logistics truck we not only encourage people to use them more to ferry supplies about the battlefield but when they are not doing that, they can also deploy bridges.

Is there any chance you can make a deployable bridge that deploys from a tank? so that when an armor squad needs a bridge deployed they don't need to wait for a logistics truck or have one tagging along with them as they could be taken out by an LAT.

You mean deployed from a normal Main Battle Tank (MBT) with a turret that shoots shells or from a Armored Vehicle Launched Bridge (AVLB) which is basically a converted tank with no turret that can "deploy" bridges?

A MBT, not going to happen isn't at all realistic...
For a AVLB, read the Highlights post on the CSBs on the reasons why we are using the Logi truck (representing the TBT - Tank Bridge Transporter) instead of making a brand new AVLB for every faction.

Everything looks worse ingame than it dose in a good render. A good render takes a few mins, sometimes even hrs to "render" a single frame, where ingame you need 30 frames or more to be rendered every second which means the engine are designed to render them in lower quality than a high quality max render is to keep up, although other engines do have "better graphics engines" which have the object looking better.

Silly_Savage
2010-07-20, 23:42
Yeah, we're working with a 5+ year-old engine. Compare an object being rendered in both BF2 and a more updated engine, say the engine from ArmA 2, and you get two completely different results.

Not really been paying too much attention to the BF2 side of PR since my PC refuses to play it at the moment but this update is looking good so may need to reinstall the OS and start again to fix the issue so I can play.

It's good to see the bridges although limited by the engine for the deployment, just one note on this. From the write up it makes it sound as if the TBT can deploy the bridges, not quite correct they are used to carry spare bridges for our TITAN (or older AVLB). Please don't get confused with the field mice version the GSB which is built using the ABLE and BV trucks.
