So, the british go from open air, totally exposed land-rovers to mobile 4-wheel land fortress of doom with complimentary CROW-equivalent system and smoke launcher... AWESOME!
Do you have ingame shots of that beauty aswell?

So what will these replace in game? IRL they are replacing the CVRT, Fighting Vehicle FV 432, Saxon and Land Rover Truck Utility Medium (TUM), but none of these are in game at the moment, are they going to replace some of the Landrovers?
that is the most beautiful model, with the most beautiful texture i have ever seen
can't wait for the norwegian version :D

Panther Command and Liaison Vehicle (CLV) Light Armoured 4x4 - Army Technology (http://www.army-technology.com/projects/future/)
n May 2004, BAE Systems was awarded a contract to provide the self-defence weapon station (SDW) for the FCLV. SDW combines the surveillance, target acquisition weapon sight (STAWS), which is based on an uncooled thermal imager with the Enforcer remote controlled weapon station (RCWS). STAWS is produced by Selex Sensors & Airborne Systems Ltd (formerly BAE Systems Avionics).
The Enforcer RCWS, developed by Rafael of Israel, is being licensed-produced by Selex S&AS following the insolvency of AEI Ordinance Systems who previously held the license. The weapon station can be armed with a 7.62mm or 12.7mm machine gun or a 40mm automatic grenade launcher.

love it, finaly a new heavy jeep, after the brits lost the Saxon.
really high quality work, can't wait to see it ingame
(though, still missing the opfor weapons update ;-) )
IS this for AMRA 2 PR or BF2? or both?
Looks too nice of quality to be BF2 so maybe it's a surprise which is why there are no in-game screenies.

this is not BF2 but max render, hence it looks so nice, compare how BTR-80 looked on highlight renders and how it looks ingame and you will know how this will look in BF2
top notch work there, Kaij:-)

I think its because we import these then modify them rather than building them from scratch ourselves.

It's an Italian manufacturer, IVECO, making it, or rather based on one of the vehicles they make, so I'm guessing Rudd is right :)

ye but the model was always meant to be used in BF2, just ARMA2 as well :)

Every model can be used in bf2 and arma2, but arma2 has a newer engine so you can have more detailed models and use bigger textures. No exports were made yet, first Ill make textures for the afghan version, then Ill make LODs for both models and after that its gonna be exported, so it will take a while.

well most of our static models can't really be used in ARMA2 :p

no, this will instantly heal the vehicle :-D
Very nice! I think a lot of the scratches look very unnatural though, mainly around the door.

Rhino;1360800']well most of our static models can't really be used in ARMA2 :p
Hmm , every model is a bunch of triangles, and the limitation of the arma2 engine for a single model is how much 35K faces? Well I was talking mainly about vehicles and weapons, whats so different about statics? Its clear that you can not use a 35K model in BF2 from arma2, but whats the problem with bf2 objects to be used in arma2?
Well about the scratches, the majority of the community is obsessed with scratches, so there they are, majority wins .

Well the object itself is fine, the problem is with the textures, most use the vBF2 texture pallets which we can not legally port to ARMA2 and
ARMA2 doesn't use the same colour, detail, dirt and crack system BF2 uses for its statics so all in all you would need to pretty much remake the static in order to work on ARMA2 since also parts of the model are setup to use these texture pallets well etc.
But dont worry about that :p

Looks like a GPMG to me, but I'm sure someone more qualified could make a better guess.

i had a visit to the BAE factory in Newcastle while these where being built/modified. They are monsters, packed full with all the latest tech! I had a go on the CROW system too, very cool! (minus GPMG obviously :-P)

OMGGGG I WANT ONE I WANT ONE!!! :D amazing work mate
Nice Sex Panther, 60% of the time, it works every time.
It has an odd resemblance to the suburban version of the Hummer which failed miserably in the US. I trust the devs in upping the armor and not using a plastic shell like its suburban counterparts.
Great model, btw, awesome work!!

WHAAAAAAT???? that model looks better than they do look in crysis or arma2 xD
Considering the model has smoke canisters, (not really sure what to call them, probably something very simple and im being stupid) on the top of the model be useable? Or are they just for detail?
And also because there are dozens of variations to the panther will any other versions be included? Great moddelling aswell btw
Oh and what kind of durability will they have? The Panthers with the additional armour packs are designed to survive small ambushes including IED traps and mines, will they be implemented?
Sorry about all the questions but It'd be great to finally see a decent armoured british transport vehichle that can carry more than 3 people.

Ye, if you remember the Saxon that also had smoke launchers and they where useable while that was also only a "heavy jeep" (well in r/l it was classed as an APC but that's beside the point :p).

Is this baby the britsh equivalent of the US CROW-HUMVEE?
Panther - British Army Website (http://army.mod.uk/equipment/fighting-vehicles/1643.aspx)
Weighing 7 tonnes, Panther is air transportable and can be underslung beneath a Chinook helicopter.
Panther is armed with a 7.62 mm L7 general purpose machine gun equipped Remote Weapon Station, which can be upgraded to a 12.7 mm/cal weapon if required, and an appropriate day/night sighting system.
The armoured citadel provides crew protection from small-arms fire and Level 3 blast mines.
Panther will be in widespread use with various Commanders, Sergeant Majors, and Liaison Officers for Armoured, Armoured Recce and Armoured Infantry Units. Panther will also be used as the Commander's vehicle for Engineer Troops, Anti-Tank, Mortar and supporting fire platoons.
It is also used to rebroadcast on Battlegroup nets and by Regimental Signal Officers.
I guess its a bit more of a command vehicle than standard combat vehicle.

Correction.
A Humvee or (hmmwv (High mobility muli-purpose wheeled vehicle)) are lightly armoured Weapon platforms also used for transport. A Humvee with a Common remotley operated weapons system (CROWS) is just a Humvee with a alternate weapon system on it other then the standard Ironsighted .50cal.
A panthar is Called a (CLV) Command and Liason Vehicle. A panthar is moderatley armoured with a CROW system.
The vehicles are used in very different roles but can be used for similar missions too. For example both can be used for Heavy Weapons Infantry Support Roles.

The real life facts don't really have any relevance here. If it has spots for 4 solders then its going to be used in the same manner the current CROWS Humvee is.
No team is going to go 'WAIT a sec, the commander should be using this, lets just take a land rover instead'

True dtacs but the bloke was talking about its role in R/L. Your right none the less I can see the panther just being used as a Heavy Weapons support like the CROW Humvee. In fact even if a commander did decide to take it, he'd be way to busy with other matters then to actually crew the vehicle effectively.
When talking about the role of vehicles in R/L is a completely different matter when talking about the role of the vehicle in PR. I find it very RARE to see people using vehicles in PR akin to that of which the vehicles are operated in r/l. But when they do its blissful. Remember, on Karbala the other day. You were Squad leading inf, while I was squad leading a Stryker squad? and how effective that turned out to be?

Good news. This CLV will be a new car or you substitute someone in-game?
Sry for my bad english...
Does this got a mounted TOW ontop too? :D :D
Nope, the Brits in r/l like to just use these to carry Javelins about and then if we need to take out something with AT they just get out and use the Jav, or in some cases with some other vehicles, they just stick there heads out of the top and fire it from there :)
Nice vehicle. Hope it has CD player inside :D. Looks terrifying.
