Hey guys,
The team thought I should post another thread for coverage so here we go. Three new WIP videos. And please remember everything you see here is work in progress.


The Pirates of Ely Map
Here a first glimpse at the map. As you will notice its still WIP. Non of the vehicles are set and if you see any they most likely are in a testing stage. The map is a 4km map with both at sea warfare and land warfare. Faction are not decided and wont be for a while as its just not important.

Also for those that were fan of my old Korengal "asset reward system" this map will have the same. And being a large map I will try to incorporate a large amount of "fun" assets. The more and more I work on it I dont think I will be making this a INS gamemode. Instead I will be looking into random CP's

For example BLUFOR assets(only a example right now):
CP Order:
BLUFOR carrier: (minimal starting assets: a small chopper and allot of PT boats)
Random 1-4 cargoship CP (Medium size choppers)
Eyl Fishing village (light vehicles supports)
Random 1-4 land based CP (Ship based APC supports)
Desert landing strip (some sorta large asset)
City of Ely (end)

So I'm currently working on this cargo ship as well. Allot is missing from it but these were the first times I was far enough to place in game and walk around. Note you will not have to jump through door frames, the collision meshes are not done.

Ship Boarding
Here is a peek at what I have planned for the map. Both the BLUFOR and OPFOR will have the ability to board the ships by ropes, but only the BLUFOR will have the chopper options. *boat you see here is testing boats*

3 - I enjoy the asset rewards, but will they work the same way with somali's? Since airfield is right outside their main.

The only thing that could be risky with asset reward is that if one team is getting steamrolled than it will get worse with little chance to fight back if the winning team is getting more assets with each flag capped.

So the cargo ships, belongs to Blufor. I thod that Blufor spawned on Orange and had to push through and finally get those ships.

Really cool, my only problem with this is that US Marine will set up a FoB on the ship with a tow and just kill any boats that are arriving :S

That could be true, maybe have a forward spawn so that the Somalis can get to the boats just as quick as the Marines, and have to fight over it. A TOW on the boat could ruin the whole concept of the ship-boarding idea.

Now this is going to be amazing, the map is huge and detailed :D wish there would be some transport lilbirds :D and would be cool to have a little button in the ship, which when u press the ships horns sounds on, anyways can't wait for this awesomness, hope there will be a lot of heli's.

Wow, the map is looking great CRF! The terrain, features, and roads all look spot on. Even the beach had a gradual depth until the shelf, just like a real beach. Great job! :grin:

For an effective ground team make it a good load out, for example 2 support truck and strykers it makes for an effective troop escort so make sure you have to make the load out effective for both teams.

Did some testing this weekend with a few guys and have moved a few of the cargoship closer to shore. Not to close just enough that the BLUFOR pilots dont end up taking the ship WAY before the OPFOR does.

Allot of the collisions were worked on, all the water tight doors were remade this week and some more reward idea's were looked into. Next few steps are better looking texture maps and doing some work on the bridge.

As far as the map goes this is continuing to be worked on. Each village needs its special attention to look like its actually lived in along with points of interest through out the map.

The warping that is found on every 4km map has been brought down to the minimum, which make me happy.

am I right, guessing that the ship consists out of elements and that there could as well be longer/shorter versions, so that not only the fright is different?

I agree with the idea of not being able to deploy TOW missles on the cargo ships, as it WOULD hinder any kind of attack the pirates (or opfor or w/e faction) made on those name ships

And i dont know why but i think it would be pretty freeking cool of you could land your chopper into one of those holds. Just seeing it lift off out of one of those holds would look pretty cool. I would feel sorry for any junior pilots tho =P

To be fair the english dubbing of the nazis sucks but.... in anime there are few dubbings that don't suck.

The series are quite fun to watch if you like dark comedy. ;)

Well in general the pirates are going to get overwhelmed attacking the cargo ship if the Blue for already has a FO their... The boat would be an easy target to spot out 1000m-800m out and all you would need is a SAW to mow them down. :\

Tows are insult to injury.

The map will be layed out so that the cargo ships will not be the ticket drainer. And also the Blufor will be limited on what assets they acquire if only holding the cargoship. Lets not worry too much about BLUFOR setting up FOB on a cargo ship because after all its only a part of the overall map. Plus a rushing tactic should over whelm a stationary tow.

A few things I'm experimenting with is limiting all of the BLUFOR assets until they gain a foothold on CP's. For example the blufor wouldn't receive any additional air assets until the cargo ship are captured. It will take some internal testing, betas testing, and time before I get it right but know I understand the issues that might arise.

My only criticism is that it seemed like you needed to jump through the hatchways and thus ran out of run very quickly inside the ship. One thing that annoys me that is in PR now are little height differences that make it a jumping contest in the middle of a lane of fire where it wouldn't realistically be that bad. (The curbs as they used to be is one example on Fallujah).

What if the opfor starts on one random ship and has one of those start of round timed spawn points? The ones that disappear after a few minutes into the round? This could simulate a few pirates already having a ship in their hands and could make a bit of a speed for the blufor to hurdle before making landfall. The rest of the opfor would have to take all the other flags on land in order for the opfor on the ship to be able to actually take the flag. This could hinder the blufor from just landing minimal personnel on the ships to take them uncontested and then moving the main body of their force directly to land.

In a way, I agree with you. That would make it more of a real life scenario where blufor would inevitably have to rescue an already captured vessel rather than prevent from capturing it by the pirates. And also that would give the opfor better chnaces in this map in case should there be doubt regarding blufor always arriving at the ship first.

Main goal: Pirate are able to reach cargoship and establish a presents. Pirate getting to the cargoships before the blufor is being worked on. I've already improved the time by moving the cargoships closer to shore.

Pirates:
Beach spawn/RP are placed close to shore along with boats. Travel time to cargoships are 20-30 seconds.

BLUFOR:
Helicopter delayed spawns. Might have the BLUFOR main flag cap time set to (what ever I want) allowing me to delay the spawn times of Blufor Assets. Think of it as time it takes to answer a S.O.S and brief time (game time not real life).

Helicopter engine start time 60 + travel time (?) seconds

I've got to say, this is probably the map I am looking forward to most that is a WIP. I like how you thought outside the box on this one, I don't really see any other maps like it. It's also a recent/current situation, which is a plus.

It will also be good to finally grapple up from a boat. I always wondered why you couldn't (probably really hard to code in this engine?) because it helps out with planning/strategy not having to go straight to ladders, stairs, ramps, etc. Anyways, I think it's awesome that you broke the mold here. Good job.

I have a question. Maybe I missed it and you already have the info here somewhere but what will determine how many flags there are? I see on the map you have 1-4 possible locations in some of the "tiers". I know the flags are random each round, but how do you know how many there will be at each "tier." Each tier always gets at least one and the rest are random? :confused:

Anyways, I'm pretty excited about this map. Keep the updates coming, please.
