Some clips I got while testing CAS_117's Combined Arms.
Shows tank lock on system, 2km view distance, and new jet stuff... (a lot more flares, HUD is different and works differently...)

i'd like to know, how does the tank lock on system work? caus i like tanking and this looks really sweet, its just, th elock on looks a bit wierd

That was the biggest fail ever. Almost every round we fired went straight above them.

Nice work,looked like the FCS was loosing the focus/tracking when moving,or maybe
the DPI is set a little too high on the mouse.Love the graphics (at the start in space).

Basically what the lockons are, a laser target is attached to every tank and vehicle besides aircraft(I beleive I haven't seen the official note on that part) tank guns IFV cannons ATMs lock onto that laser spot and for tanks and IFVs you can lock onto the enemy vehicle like a fcs, but you must be within a few degress of the laser

Cas is a former PR Dev, so he's going his own route for now, but that's not to say that some elements of this won't be seen in PR, if I remember hearing correctly.

Yes, there are 4 spawnable jets per team on that level in that layer. And remember, while these are gameplay videos, they're still tests.

I really don't see how base rape is a core element of Combined arms, though. There was a problem with stray AA missiles hitting main bases, if that's you're thinking, but that's good. It means Cas knows what to fix before releasing.

Baserape can never be stopped really, its just something that will happen with bad players. Base defense should be easy enough though.

Combined Arms or simply CA is an addon for PR that's currently in beta testing. it focuses on more realistic approach to everything, but mostly vehicles. the goal for the DEV team of CA is to recreate as close to reality functioning of vehicles/weapons/aircraft, like tank tracking system, radar for AA and aircraft, longer possible engagement range for aircraft. it isn't already implemented in PR for 2 reasons:
1.it's still a beta, some things don't work good, they need to be tested or fixed
2.PR DEVs say that some features of CA do not fit PR style of gameplay and do not require teamwork, promoting lone-wolfing instead. i disagree with this, because i have actually played the mod and can say that teamwork > lone wolfing, it just works as it should in CA, no false compromises.

I'd love to see that draw distance implemented into PR, it just looks so much more natural when compared to the "grey curtain" which does not allow your eyes to see past.

But I'm guessing there's a drawback in performance for this prettiness.....

Depends on the map really. Unless you have a dinosaur age computer kashan is absolutely fine.

To be honest, the "Combined Arms Kashan" ran smoother than PR Kashan. Don't know why, though. Should be the opposite, shouldn't it?

Not the ones that you saw. The missiles that you saw in the Black and White missile launches was in manual guidance mode. There is an option to use the aircraft's lock-on mode though. But i prefer the manual personally because it is more satisfying to destroy vehicles that way.

And safer. Unless you have a visual confirmation and no other vehicle clutter, you can never be sure if it'll hit the target you want. It usually does, but there are times where the TKs start racking up. Not to say it'll be full of TKing, rather that it forces a new tactical decision to be made on how to go about destroying the reported target, etc... etc..

Yeah sometimes you want to watch those missiles.

Plus, manually guided is just too awesome, especially bombs. DonĀ“t worry about the missile spam of them there though, accidentally left in infinite ammo from testing.

Thanks for the vids. Haven't tried it because I suppose there aren't enough players to make it interesting to play whenever I want not to mention I can always save HDD space, but it looks like there are some good ideas.
Some jet-related features don't seem useful but then I find fighter jets have barely their place in PR alone. These are nice coding efforts nonetheless.

Now what I definitely want in PR ASAP are the smashingly cool and well-researched HUDs. Congratulations on that :shock:
