[Deployable] Razor wire & Tank traps

I cant take full credit as these where already made assets I just mashed together and made collision elements for. Thought I already posted these...guess not.

These will stop both players and vehicles. Now a defense line is more usable. These will look and sit just like all deployables. These are made to replace the current razor wire. Same size, but will need to be built.

https://www.realitymod.com/forum/members/2104-albums33-picture372.jpg

PS this was what the DB's CRF mess up thread was about.

NEW IT!

Crap! forgot to say... Good job there CRF, it'll be alot of fun defending these things :)

Too bad t4nks1p3r can't enjoy it :p

BTW, I see you've added diryt to the bottom, how deep will this extend? as far as the FOBs and such?

PS, merge both posts if you want, can't edit

Good question. But with the need to leave a hole to get out, it wont be needed to destroy them too often I guess.

Cheesygoodness
2008-12-23, 00:42
So was he my little Rudd-a-kins. They need to leave a hole to get out and you can use that hole to get in.

Though you are more meaning a flank or breaking in from an unexpected angle.

I'd have to assume 50s would work based on what was posted. I'd hope you can counter shovel it but I'd bet that probably would be hard to code. High Explosives would otherwise seem the best way.

Uhm, that much boom will most likely do the job. I mean, C4 is like the most powerful thing you can have, except from air strikes or artillery.

Finally tank traps! Defence. Will C4 and tank rounds blow em up?

Well if they can blow up bridges and buildings, probably a piece of metal and barbed wire won't be too much of a problem. Interesting is if .50s can blow them as discussed here and if infantry aside from Spec Ops (and HAT) will have way to destroy them. Maybe something fancy for engineer.

-Armored vehicles are significantly wider than other vehicles so you just have to place two of these at an angle, leaving a small space large enough to fit a light vehicle but small enough to keep out any APCs or tanks.

I've always wanted to be able to take down enemy emplacements with a shovel. But this is a great idea. How about a Banga-LIC, a cross between a Bangalore and a MICLIC? Imagine, throwing it like a grapple hook and detonating from 20feet away.

:D

what is that

Bangalores, or Bangalore Torpedoes are a breaching tool, mainly for breaching Razorwire, Concertina Wire and Minefields. They consist of a hollow tube filled with explosives. The Tube or Torpedo would be flung across the obstacle and then detonated severing the wire and detonating any mines in the vicinity.

The idea that you can drive a car through an object, especially rolls of barb wire is silly. The biggest issue with the other ware was it was missing a correct collision object. No longer will putting up barb wire mean nothing to vehicles.

Maybe in the future we will have more deployables but for now this solves a major gameplay flaw.

It would be cool if the SL could place the razor wire like in 0.8 and to add tank traps the squadmembers just have to go to the wire and use their shovels to build them...

i hope you understand what i mean, the "unbuilt" asset would be the razor wire only, and the "built" asset would be the wire with the tank traps like on the pic at the 1st post :)

Yes it would be a good idea, because sometimes letting just the inf to an area is a good thing, right to the sights of HMG. Too bad the isn't enough space in the comrose. Maybe you could replace repair/or move from the comrose since you can place it in the map screen.

Have you noticed that you can stand on the current razorwire? Weird.

Spec
2009-01-12, 16:08
Just the inf? Inf cant get through either without engineer.

And HMG vs Tank = Fail I'd think :p (Though you could set up a TOW Humvee or an own tank or whatever, so you still have a point)

sentinel
2009-01-12, 19:40
Just the inf? Inf cant get through either without engineer.

I meant that the idea of tanktraps is to let the Infantry pass, but stop vehicles. I would place where vehicles cant go to destroy them. Maybe the engy car could drop these individual tanktraps from the back, or deployable by SL allowing more creativity in building fortifications. No just an instant block-it-all-wall like this one. And if vehicles going through wire is too weird for you, add few iron bars on it and make it destruct if vehicle rams it on high speed.

Yes, here is a good idea. Tanktraps droped from the back of the engy car, highly resistant to damage, but they can be dismantled with the wrench. Since they actually have nuts and bolts if not welded.
