Hey guys, CodeRedFox here with a WIP.

The current 50 Cal Deployable we have offer very little protection. Hence allot of people wont use them. Hopefully these WIP will show where we are taken them. This is a first of a few new deployables that I will be trying to roll out for 0.85. No promises :mrgreen:

1) destructibility, how you blow these guys up? LAT will do it?<- i.e. same deal as bunker but without the radio

Looks great! Couldn't agree more though, 50's are empty most of the time because it's kinda suicidal to use them atm.

Basicly what it is, they gave the MG nest a camo net roof, gave it a partial back wall out of sandbags and built up the bags around the nest. Now it is more of a Machine Gun Nest than just a mounted MG.

They have automatic aim down sights. But i swear the sights are different, was just in game...

Wow, went a bit further then adding a couple of bags either side like it seemed in the thread about this, nice work.

Have to ask though, what's with the holes on the sides where 1 bag is missing? Do you not want the thing to be too indestructible short of explosives?

They'll suck in alot of urban situations, but that's a good thing, the get used in some really bloody stupid places at the moment..

In Bi Ming I managed to kill about 8 chinese soldiers with one .50cal. They are excellent, if SL knows where to place them. If not, they're useless. It's just skill. ;)

IMO assets around firebases are used when they should not be. They just publicize the location of your outpost and like a neon sign with a huge red arrow scream "Opfor, come here for lots of kills!"

They are useful, but not in every situation.

As for the 50 cal emplacement with more protection... Amen!

The aiming is currently set to the same as before. But this is in discussion with the Dev's as what and how to do.

Imho these things should have a zoom or they are still waste of space.
They should be growd stoppers and feared as they are still quite easy to snipe from a distance by any rifleman.
These things should make a difference.

Maybe if you make the MG nest a bit higher, and mount the MG on a bit higher position aswell, then it would be easier on the looks to make the thing aim higher and lower than in the current version. Right now the gunner is sitting behind it, in a very strange position. If you could make it higher, you could make him crouch normally or even stand.
But when the MG is so low to the ground the gunner should be prone, and not sitting behind it.

Most small current MG net you sit behind the gun. Its only in towers I''ve seen standing. Laying down was a WWII action.

He means the positions themselves will be more visible than the old stuff, which you could easily put in hard-to-see areas. On the flip side, while the position is easier to find, shooting the gunner is now much harder.

A little update without pics sorry

The original plans were kinda scrapped.Some problems in testing and gameplay feelings. These new ones have been meet with "WOW they really work" from testers.

You will now have three new deployables:

Deployable 50cals (so far the word is they work really well camo and protection)
Deployable Foxholes (replaces the old ones, no netting)
Deployable Razor wire plus hedgehogs


There are others but I will let those responsible let you know :-D

The damage, built req, and protection will be told of as in game experience. Well let the community let us know how well they work as you guys might build FOB that we never thought of.

When we do release you will be able to comment like always and if you can do it like adults I will be listening as these are the first built of these. :-D

Here's to a successful 0.85 and beyond.

CRF, I would suggest taht your sandbag model without the asset mound would actually look great as a mapper placed static, maybe ur new map could incorporate it :)
