Nothing to be honest, its just that PR does need to continue the persuit of moving as far away from vbf2 as possible. The animations for the knife only took me a few hours so it was no biggie

Spec: They're gone, I have the guy clenching his fist now

How will the different stab animations work? Is one set to primary fire, and the other set to alt fire? Or does it auto-judge based on distance? I'm a little lost there.

Either way, you said that both versions do the same thing, so it doesn't really matter gameplaywise.

There are separate animations for what you, the knife-wielder sees, and the enemy in front of you. 1p animations and 3p animations need to be made and added separately. :) Maybe the DEVs are still working on it, or saving it for when you get out there in a future release.

Ahh well;) I guess the guy holds his knife in a more realistic way not;) Blade down instead of up.

Really good job on the SRAW animation tho:D Btw, one last question, is the Eryx gonna use the same animation or are you working on a different one for it?:)

Only thing i dont like about it is how the arm looks twisted when you take the knife out. Also i think the SRAW animation could use a bit of work because at various times you can see his hand pass through the weapon.

Other than it looks great.

Hmm, am I only one who doesn't like the stab animation? The grib is unconfortable, reach is smaller, and you just might stab yourself with it. I do know that the "Ice pick" goes better trough armor but you can't move much force in vertical movement.

The HAT is awesome, good to have te deployment animation :D atleast we have somesort of idea how long its going to still take time when that tank is rolling in our direction.

The animations are excelent, the only problem I have is the rocket launcher. While the animations themselves are good, they just seem completely unnecesary. I mean here's a man who's under fire by some sort of vehicle, like a tank or APC. And he's fidgeting with his rocket launcher? "Oh wait, gotta dust off the scope, no up a little... no down...... up again!" Just seems kinda unneeded to have all his fidgeting and trying to get the rocket launcher in the most comfortable position.

What I think would make more sense, is draw out the actual reloading. Show him bring the rocket launcher down and set it on the ground, reach back to pull out a round, maybe make him sort of dance about for a second as he tries to get the rocket. Then heft the rocket launcher up with one hand all awkwardly and put the rocket in. If memory servers, those things are reloaded by another guy, if that's true then him solo-reloading it would be very difficult and awkward, and THAT's where you can get the length from.

Each missle has its own launcher i think, like an AT4 or a 66mm LAW

Good to have an animation instead of just waiting for the bloody thing when it looks ready to fire. Can anyone tell us what the hell he's doing when he's tapping all the parts and stuff, looks like he's trying to find woodworm or something.

Oh and is there gonna be a similar pause (although not as long obviously) for putting the thing away? Seems kinda silly to have all that cool animation but the thing insta-switches when you want your rifle out.

3p animations are still in development, there's currently no method known to trigger holster animations, and reload animations for HATs yes, but for LATs it depends.

Cool! Any chance we can get a more cooler idle animation for the fallowing weapoons:

RPG-7: Currently it dose the BF2 stock funble with the scope bit and it looks wrong lol. There is no scope!

L85A2: Slow down the scope fumble animation so we can see it in action and also please add a few new idle animations so he checks to make sure his magazine is in securly.

Also any chance we could fix the AK-101s reload so if your out of ammo in both clips his will drop it and grab another outa his pack? It would make the AK-101 stand out a bit more, but I don;t know if BF2 supports multipe reload animations for the same gun.

Last but not least please add the walking sway while in scope animation too all Sniper rifles, and scoped fire arms. it will make you feel less like your floating and more like your movieng when scoped.

Unfortunately idle animations imo are a waste of time and resources (considering the workload and necessity to gameplay), so.. I won't be attending to them.

I havn't found a way to do that, chances are the AK-101 will see the fella just getting a new pair of double mags as opposed to just flipping it over and over again.

wrt scopes, we have some ideas, which should be interesting~

I don't like what's being made so far but here's some constructive criticism
(couse i got too much of it for myself)

I like that you guys are adressing a need for H-at deployment

but seriously: nobody in real life would kill someone like that the way that it's animated you only have your tricep muscle for strength but the vanilla bf2 animation would show that the character stabs and has his entire body behind it.

but the knife looks like he's stabbing diagonally instead of in front

and as for the new h-at animations make it look like it has no mass
doesn't deployment require you to to do certain things like take off the safety

the fidgeting with the H-at just makes me realize how that I'm just wasting my time to deploy the thing so the game can be balanced

and finaly well the H-at firing rumbling is realistic I admit but please don't put it in. if you do that I won't be able to see my missile hit it's target and then I lose that awesome feeling i get when I take out an apc full of people in it

you could take the firing animation and tone it down?

Not to rain on everyone's parade here, I do welcome the new animations without a doubt. But there are a few things that I'd like to point out.

The M9 Bayonet stab appears to be ergonomic and natural as it should be. That appears fine.

For the Ka-Bar and the SA80 knife I'd simply rotate it 180°. This is so that the edge of the blade will be facing down and to the right. Instead of it appearing up and to the left. Then animate it so that it slashes from the left to the right of the screen. This particular method would probably make the animation more natural and fluid-like. As for the moment, it feels as if the stance doesn't seem to fit the knife attack in a natural manner.

Or, if you don't wish to do it that method. Simply leave the knife attack to slash from right to left as it currently is, but make the stance like this as it appears more natural.

However, down the road the camera shake that takes place during the knife animation may prove to be unusual and may make players guess where the stab may actually land in accordance with the animation. After all, there are people that do have graphics problems (Not implying myself.) and keeping the motions as simple as possible will prove to be more practical. Also taking a moment to mention, although it's hard to tell but it appears that the knife attack itself causes the players character to lurch forward slightly... Although it's already been said that the standard BF2 knife attack remains the same, I'm still concerned.

As for the SRAW, I'd have to say that it is a good filler for the 20 second or so delay before it actually arms, it quite nice. I highly recommend spending abit more time on this aswell. I'd suggest trying to pick up a suitcase or briefcase by the handle, notice if your wrist bends back that much with that type of orientation.

What can I say? It's very hard to tell how much you like something until it's actually been placed in game and tried out. It may look phenominal at first, but soon as you put it to use you may think "Humm, this does feel abit awkward afterall.".

I can already sense the flames from an enraged PR community mob rising out of this constructive criticism.

shame you cant get the double mags to work one time where he flips it over, and then have him reach for a new pair.

though tbh the double mag change animation and reload speed isnt any faster than a normal reload so its pretty pointless having the double mag.

I'd make it so that, instead of flipping the mag's or getting a new pair, the animation should just be a mix of both. You remove the old mag, put it out of sight for a moment, then flip it and put it in again. Noone knows if you just flipped the mag or got a new one and flipped that because in the second it wasnt in the viewable area of the screen, you could have got a new one or just turned the one you have.
