I decided to give Bi Ming a complete overhaul and convert it into a day map for the next release. Asset changes include the removal of the APCs and some of the transport vehicles. Here are a few screens to show what you can now expect from it:

Very nice. I look forward to playing the daylight version of Bi Ming. It is very pretty indeed. Next time though, consult with the POE modders and see how they did their night maps. It just worked out better for them for some reason.

Unfortunately from what I know, the POE team isn't really a cooperative one that likes to help other mods very much.

I've played only twice Bi Ming and it's very strange but I *damn* like it. There are plenty of beautiful day maps, so I don't understand this conversion.

not going to happen as thats 2x the space in the mod where we could use that space for another unique map.

We may in the future release day/night different versions along side the mod in a stand alone map pack which users can download.

Main reasons for this change is that we where having some problems with the night shaders again, mixed with no one playing the map since its "too dark", although that is very realistic for a night map... :roll:

Awww, I'm gonna miss my midnight strolls on a local game :(, the sounds and the moonlit sky, it really helped to relax me :)

British:

2x Landrover (will repawn) - Qi Wang (British Main)
2x Landrover (won't respawn) - Supply Road
2x Rib (Boat) - Qi Wang
2x Supply Truck - Qi Wang

Chinese:

2x Nanjing (will repawn) - Chinese Main
2x Nanjing (won't repawn) - Munitions Dump
2x Rib - Island near Chinese Main
2x Supply Truck - Chinese Main

The map will fundamentally be about infantry combat. Its Ghost Train sized with only 6 cps and plenty of room around them to flank and manouver. Its effectively AASv1 so the action will be focused although you will still need to work hard to balance the assault against the defence, ensuring reinforcements are not intercepted. Hopefully this should ensure there is a good mixture of downtime and intense combat that rewards good squad level and overall teamwork.

I love infantry combat, and thats what this map was always designed to be about. Chatting to Fuzzhead the other night he suggested removing the apcs and cutting back on the transport vehicles to focus it more on the infantry and I thought it was a great idea. So get your knives polished and ready lads, this time you'll be able to see the whites of their eyes ;)

The nightshaders/filters took a massive toll on performance so it should run much better now too :-D

Pitch black maps where every soldier has nightvision goggles is just bullshit. I would love to see realistic night maps where most of the regular infantry would have only torches and flares, Squad leaders, spec ops and the snipers could have the NVG.

I think it is possible to do that with the editor and a good idea.
However, it would require a less dark night setting and more light-objects..

Would have loved to try night map a little more but no one host it...

I think I played it only 2 times...
This is kind of ridiculous when you think of it: most servers
will take eternaly to start (when they start) cause they they have 64 size map on first.Personnaly I think that this could be a good starting map.

So most of the team have torches and snipers etc have NVG ? Please man - just think that through for a second.

There was a line missing in the .desc file relating to the nightmap setup that used to cause it to ctd for some people. However those issues are now all in the past! :)

IIRC regular infantry units DO Get issued NVG's. Just not every single member.

Call me wacky, but I think the map looks infinitely better in the smokey daylight than with the NVG on. Then again, I was always biased against Bi-Ming anyways ;)

A real shame. It's the only night map & one of my favourites :(

I love having the ability to move stealth like across the map. Big fire fights are a no no because they instantly make the enemy aware of your position.

I hope you reconsider!

Liked the night BiMing, but not loved it. I liked sometime to watch brits without night googles, suprisingly you could spot them without googles more easly then with them when they were shooting. Im looking forward to this day map to see all its beauty.

But... Im missing the Joint Operations (maybe some ppl remember that tittle) and its dynamic day/night change... first day then dusk, night, dawn and day again. The longest round for me was 2 changes of day/night. Good old times...
