View Full Version : It sickens me...

On the 24/7 INS server (My fav), with the usual Squad Tag (CACHE HUNT) as GB, got in a bit late and the round was starting, started the squad, got 3 guys, forgot names but one little *ucka dubbed *Mike33810* or something like that, first I assigned them their kits, one followed orders, one lone-wolfed in an APC.

I kick him from the squad, me and the other guy are in the LR and get ambushed, next second, he says in team chat:

wheres the m82?

Losses the APC in under 3 minutes, probably ditched it and has the b*lls to ask where the location of the most secret weapon on that map is. It sickens me, and hes not my first example.

To sum it up:

I am sick and tired of there little kiddies, who watch ub3r-l337 Sniper movies and think its right to do whatever they please on this mod. Heck I only have one thing to say to them "HOW THE *UCK DID YOU EVEN FIND THIS MOD?"!

NOTE: Could a mod pleae edit the 'sickenes' word into the appropiate please.

Personaly i find that having these little treasuers hidden on maps degrades the team work atmosphere. and the above is the prime example. every one remember back in .609 the amazing race to the black hawk wreck. it was exciting, to bad it wasn't for the government office.

1) Don't get worked up about it.
2) Don't play a 24/7 INS server (almost as bad as 24/7 karkand from BF2v.)
3) Find some people to play regularly with in a squad utilising teamwork and all your worries will disappear.

what is with people and this sniper kit?

sniper kit is NOT the best kit out there. you pick it up, and more than half of all people won't even know how to aim with it

another half won't be able to hit anything with it.

and another half of that won't be able to kill anyone with it.

its so annoying to see people request and request over and over again sniper kit sniper kit marksman kit
even when there aren't enough people.
its one thing when you get a marksman and have an organized squad, you are either picking off far away troops, or you have a heli deliver you to a building for temporary engagement, then the heli picks you back up and delivers you to your squad.

sniping is awesome, but it's not the easiest thing to do in PR. Most people request the thing only because they've heard stories of leet pwnge, and they wanna do it themselves.

heck, i was playing STREET
the one where everyone uses a shotgun, nades, and full auto.

and there were like five people sitting at the base trying to request sniper kits
we only had 9 people per team!

wtf?

1. Why shouldn't I get worked up about it, all of the dedicated PR community has to put up with these guys, its not right.

2. I usually play on home-server (GSA) most of the time, but 24/7 INS when its empty.

3. Give me some names please.

I personally like having the pick up kits around, they work good when you have 1 (or 2) fairly decent snipers in a squad (one using the regular sniper kit and the other using the pick up). My only complaint is when some one (vbf2 punks) find them, tk's for them, run's up close to the enemy with them, die's and lets the enemy grab it, and then crys about it types. Those rifles need an anti-vbf2 noob policy.

1) Your playing it to enjoy it so don't get annoyed about little kiddies, tell an admin and if not find a decent server without smacktards in it (try ours, just search 1st Cav)

2)Tag UK is good, Teamplayer.com and Thors Brigade

3) Look in the thread "Good players" can't remember which sub-forum it is on. You can try playing a few rounds with some 1st Cav guys, just PM me.

Don't worry about it, the PR vBF2'oob filter kicks in after a few rounds and they all go back to Mother EA/Dice.

Haven't you noticed we strain the filter and just about everyday one of the decent new players posts here reporting that he's found his way home?

No, but I can give you a warning for a vague thread title.
Next time be more specific. Ok?

not mentioned this situation:
i revive a sniper, going to heal him , get shot bymyself, the sniper survives and
...stay crouched right on top of me, takes my kit, gives himself the field dressings..
switches back to the sniper kit, leaves me behind .
if there wouldnt be guys in this forum making pressure to me what is to hard as a punishment, i would use my admin rights and ban such guys.

Maybe we shold have a couple of passworded pro servers, only for teamplayers and such, with a special part of this forum(maybe?)where u have to get a license so u get the password and play on it!
it would be very handy bcause u only get good gameplay with voip and such!

Anyone supporting this idea?

Morgan

How do you get on this so called "pro" network? Playing on the "pro" server with others "pros". Oh no you can't. Only a select few would get on and then with passworded servers you're cutting down on the amount of players able to get into the server, seperating and destroying the community.

so.... is that 150%, or 87.5% that cant use the gun?

and what do you base that on? maye if they knew where it was they could practise with it?

personally? i think its bull that kits are hidden at all.

fair that some people can find this kit and others cant?

realistic that a gun can be found hidden reliably(its not like its randomised)?

Good for teamwork(when people are lonewolfing trying to find the damn kits)?

damages the balance? i dont know what kits are out there, but anything with an anti air launcher or anti tank, or supurior acuracy or magnification to what the side should have access to is quite capable of damging balance?

What it is though, is elitist, thats just what a game like this needs more of, bravo.

no keep the secret kits, it makes it easyer to work out who not to squad with when they start going on about were it is

DarkTalon

the secret kits really are as far from realistic as you can get.
- Dual wielding: good luck with that)
- hidden: take a stroll through iraq i'm sure you will find tons of high priced, and highly effective sniper weapons in every nook and cranny.
- weight: because the average iraqi can run with a .50cal, grenades, and two (mac-10s???).

leave them in betas, not in releases.

I like the secret kits. Mainly because most idiots will have taken the sniper kits or the other team already stole them, I can still have fun sniping! Hehe.

Ppl really need to stop bashing sniper and spec ops kits...

*spacecadett*
2007-10-01, 01:48
i think its easy to bash them because they are very seldom used corectly... i know i stay away from them with a 10 foot pole.... (because i rearly see any use to picking such kits) but hey if you know what to do and use the kit the way one should then more power to you.

[DVB] Avalon.ca
2007-10-01, 01:51
the only time i use a sniper / marksmen kit is when i kill one, and take it from him.

the only time i use spec ops is when i have to blow up some thing, and still be able to fight. but now the engineer kit offers the same advantage +a grapple hook on some maps. so there is almost no need to go spec ops at all

Outlawz7
2007-10-01, 08:49
I found out, that when fighting USMC on maps like Qwai, Phoenix... most of the kits I find are Spec Op... :|

I'll bash snipers and spec op kits until I never see either in direct combat; snipers should be working in pairs stealthy somewhere away from everyone and so should Spec Op...

Having a direct assault on a CP and seeing two 1337 kiddies rush in with their sf caps and on the most horrible round ever, you can also see snipers running around, then after a while they're at base requesting the kit again, as my squad is being wasted by the guy on the other team, who picked up the sniper.

Nothing pisses me more than hearing my team's weapon being used by the enemy. Most of the time it's the M14 tbh.

It makes me sick when the following happends:
1. Some random 1337 kiddie takes teh 1337 snipz0r kit while in my squad, and belives me to be happy about it.. If this happends more than twice in a round, I get wery, wery, angry..
2. Same as above, but manages to TK for it...
3. Idiots that spawn as the 1337 ops
4. That the devs removed the `bow from AL-B
5. When noobs tk for planes, becuse they were called "Jackasses" after ramming theyr A10 into the landing F-16..
6. Fools who belive spec ops have uses in any other map than Al-B

Safekeeper

6. Fools who believe spec ops have uses in any other map than Al-BHeh, I used them a lot for the sole reason that they were the only kit you could spawn with that had a weapon with full-automatic fire:p.

Wouldn't it be nice if you as a squad leader could bar your squaddies from requesting certain kits?

I think the Strategist ( apheriox ? ) had a concept like that limiting what kits could be in a squad.

I love the UK marksman's rifle because it has full auto, good in the country or the city.

Squad Leader with it is annoying:

(Just a note: I din't mind him having it since we were thrasing the USMC team, who apprantly where all just waiting around for the Helos/airplane, I never fired a Shot this round.. had 0 kills and 0 deaths.. barely any enemy resistance, it was just like where walking in a park)

i personally like pick-up kits in reasonable places, like obvious sniper positions. Then it isn't a "secret coveted item" that everyone races to find. It just doesn't make sense why someone would lay down a multi-thousand dollar gun in the sand.

I know you guys probably hate hearing this...but, "The way Forgotten Hope did it made sense and didn't result in (a lot) of nibbish behavior."

The way it is now is to prevent tards from picking it up randomly i guess, or to make it more satisfying when you get it. I've been playing PR for a while, since 0.4, and i still don't know where any of the pickup kits are, aside from the ones in the ammo dumps.

See, the ammo dumps make sense...that would be a logical spot to store weapons. A tower, or atop a building, or a small bunker across a bridge would be just as likely to house a sniper rifle, and i don't think it would hurt the game if they were moved to those places.

Sgt_Canadian_Floss

See, I like to see it like a random event. If I find a nice gun on the ground that fits the situation im in, I take it. If dosent (usually like the sniper kit) i dont take it and leave it.

beat that: a dude spawns at a bunker located on the northside of ejod-gasstation which is already ours(mec). 1second later the bunker comes under fire from an usmc apc bout 50m away on the southside of the bunker.
this dude luckily survives the heat rounds and....-requests him an at-kit-? no!
he asks for a grenadierkit then he leaves to the west and begins pounding the usmc main with grenades.

Won't beat mine. It's an old one and it's possible I already posted it here. But here it is anyway:
Deployed a bunker as commander (I think it was Hills of Hamgyong map as Chinese). Informed squad-leaders about it and the need of shovels. No reply and no builders. So I typed to teamchat the same. After few seconds a guy appear and starts building the bunker. As soon as it shows:
*QM* dudes_name, I've allocated your SNIPER KIT (2/2)
Guy runs away and bunker collapses...

Here's how I use a sniper kit.
Example, Seven Gates: British team.
I get a good concealed location with a good view of the base in the middle when my team attacks it and I pick off the chinese waiting on top of the base walls. When the team takes that base I move so I can get a view on the next one and help the attackers. I also don't join a squad so people are wondering where I am.

I do believe I use it properly, right guys, team support, not 1337 squad leedr of doom?

My personal preferred way to play PR is having a good squad on Al-Basrah and having rifleman or grenadier kit and actually following orders, it's fun. Also, I only use SF kit for Close quarters and cache destroying.

I use the Spec Ops kit. It was the first kit I ever spawned with in vBF2 back in '05, simply because I liked the carbine. I often use the kit on PR too, I find it reassuring to know I can have a burst of as much ammunition as I need, be it 2, 3 or 4 rounds. I don't mind the lack of body armor - I play in such a way that if I'm shot, it's because I've been outflanked, so I'd probably be killed no matter how much armor I had on. I appreciate good teamwork, play more often then not as a squad leader, use voip in a friendly and useful way, and always seem to have my M4 on single shot, out of choice.
I understand that [especially back in the day] the M4 was prone spammed to hell, but why do you guys get so worked up about someone who spawns as Spec Ops even before you know how they play?
As for the pickup kits, I'm sure the DEVs have plans, they've already seen all this feedback, but what's the point of releasing a new version of the map clients just to eliminate the problems?
Be patient lads.
Happy trails

visit www.operationreality.org and go on TS on weekends. Most of the members in Roughencks play in a squad of 4 or 5 lead by me. Always teamwork in EVERY game. Also NEVER a SNIPER or MARKSMEN in my squads besides for gusy taht I know ill stay and operate as a team.

And here is my story: we are in barsah and commander says to help build a fire base at south VCP he deploys and runs away when insrgents come. Leaving his Co truck a squad of guys but what made me laugh after he deployed he left Co had someone build it and then requested sniper on teh spot, I shot him in the back of the leg for it. Then had a medic help him.

I have actually had a good experience with sniper squads. I log onto the round, grab an officer kit and head straight towards the palace, i assign the other 3 members to go spec ops or engineer. we blow all 3 palace bridges and return to base.
i request an officer kit another squad member got sniper and the rest got engineer/riflemen, we drop a member off at the M-82 site and make a hard landing on one of the narrow alleyways. we all head toward the hotel area and slap an RP in the pool.

after that me and the m82 climb to the top of the hotel, the other sniper gets up in one od the buildings to the west of the hotel and the riflmen and engineer search for caches. and the sixth member of our squad orbited the city-centre and called out troop movements and cache positions.

First: PR is the best game I ever played - many thanks to the PR-team.
I can't wait to see v0.7!

But: Today on the TB server, Assault on Mestia on british side, while fighting for EAST and WEST TOWER, I see another british squad (#7) led by a certain USA[R-PUB]Viper5 constantly raping the militia main base.

So...? The more mature players are working hard to make PR a great experience, are setting up things like the 'PR ethos' and then: A member of the PR team acts like this. Shame on you Viper. Not even after half the players on both sides shouted at you would you stop baseraping. Would everybody act like you, the PR community would be dead by now.

It's good most people out there enjoy a good challenging game more than easy kills. Cheers to them!
