View Full Version : A tribute To Jabal

Jabal is the oldest map that is in PR.6

It has been around since about .3 (or so i remember)

the amazing thing about this map is that it still promotes great teamwork and gameplay even after the PR mod has evovled so drastically.

This thread is dedicated to Jabal, So post all of you greatest moments in this map no matter what version of PR you have played it with.

Jabal is the win. Best MEC v US map.

That map never sucks, then again, if losing, always lost it in glory...so about those, who were on a MEC team, which got pushed back to Al Burj...

Even with people knowing the map there's still place for sneaking and tactics.

Definately one of the best maps to date.

2007-08-03, 21:53
It used to suck before RP days.

I just love playing BH taxi pilot on that map :)

I absolutely <3 Jabal!!

Always have, always will.

Since the days of v0.3, with the LAV25 dual TOW pwnage,
the removal of spawn points in v0.4,
the excellent heavy AT kit in v0.5,
the commander assets in v0.6,
jabal will always be my lover :D

Yup. Hope to see it in .7, and MAYBE a "Jabal Redux" that's wider area, with the US Army defending the old MEC base (now the US Base), and City and all that, with the MEC coming from the north via land.

Jabal: Aftermath, a 4x4km mountainous map with light armor *drools*

Leading a squad from the start of the match to 50 minutes in, and leaving with 1500 total squad points and 330 personal points :D

But no matter what new Jabal is made, nothing will beat the original.

My quick story:
It was probably version .3 but i join the server, and it was the end of the round. MEC are on all sides of the carrier and even ton the carrier killing us. Im so made at how noobish my team was being and not being able to get the Helos taken off. I myself was new to the game, and i just said @#$% it. If i crash it wont make a big difference we'll loose anyway. But i jumped in a Little bird (without a pilot kit:!:) and i loaded up with people and started to fly to West or east beach(I forget which is which) I made a perfect fast landing and my crew dropped off and i raced back and forth from carrier to beach and soon, EVERYONE that was on the carrier was on the beach all hitching a ride on my LB. then and even now, i still don't know how ppl crash the LBs and helos SO much, but it was a great day and it showed how teamwork prevailed even though we lost. I loved PR even more after that and Jabal was part of it.

P.S. this all happened in about 5 to 10 minutes.

I guess I'm the only one that hates Jabal.

You're a horrible person...

I've never gotten to spend more than five minutes on that map in the 6 weeks or so I've been playing. Poor me.

Vehicles which have been airdropped do not have a side restriction.

I didn't know that... Heh, I can just imagine a group of USMC soldiers riding in the back of a Vodnik and coming into one of the beaches filled with hostiles on Jabal and all of them storm out of the Vodnik and recapture the beach (Trojan Horse, hehe).

Yeah I used that fact once (same time I discovered it myself actually) in .5 on Inshall; was USMC against china, got their Nanjing and got 12 of them or so at a flag. They where so confused.

2007-08-05, 11:08
Jabal ftw, great map

2007-08-05, 11:26
If I remember correctly, on one of the maps insurgents can get into any HMMWV that the USMC team has. Perhaps it was Falujah? ( Desert Storm )

2007-08-05, 21:43
To be honest, I don't really hate the map... I just hate the area where the fighting always takes place (dam and bridge)

2007-08-09, 03:23
True about the bridge, that is one area of this otherwise great map that does suck. Mainly because fighting against or from mountain areas, like near the bridge, is lame and unrealistic, for a number of reasons.

I had one of the coolest moments on Jabal yesterday though:

I was leading a mostly full squad from the MEC main base over to the US occupied west beach. Our whole squad was in a Vodnik, which i was driving. We were speeding through that twisty canyon area when suddenly we turn through one of the corners and we nearly crash right into a Commander truck.
I came to a full stop, as did it (probably through panic), and immediately the gunner on our .50 cal opened up. He killed the driver of the truck in the first couple shots and then proceeded to unload on the whole squad of infantry who were disembarking from the vehicle.
It must have been almost full because there were at least 6 or 7 bodies on the ground after it was over. I don't think they ever even got a shot off, at least not in our direction.

Just goes to show you the power of even a humble Vodnik and the grisly deaths that await those who travel without escort in unarmed vehicles. :D

Of course 40 secs later we were all killed by an enemy mine on that same road, so i guess it evened out.

Great map, well designed and all. Just whenever I play, my team is too uncoordinated to capture and hold Dam and then take bridge. We end up in a wild scuffle at the dam and end up holding the beaches. Maybe if the hills had shrubs and more cover and the terrain was tweaked a little around bridge it would be perfect.
