Only question I do have is, why do you release all the major teasers and cool stuff on one day?:P
Is there a reason behind it that you don't show like: this week a patch preview and next week the coded changelog etc?

One question, AR smoke if I heard correctly? What is that?

It's IR-smoke (infrared smoke). Basically it should block thermal sights on the target. Tank pops IR-smoke, TOW can't see it through thermals.

But it isn't only cosmetic. The AKM has a better muzzle break that gives it lower recoil. :wink:

As you know the ingame BF2 speed values are not really comparable to real life, and its nearly impossible to get every vehicle behaving super realisitc within the BF2 engine.
But what we can do, is to make the speed rations between the choppers more realisitc.
Thats what we've done for the choppers in PR 1.3.

Example. The UH-1D/N/... (Huey variants) are super fast since 0.8 release, faster than most of the current ingame transport helicopters. But IRL it's a pretty slow chopper, even the updated UH-1N Twin Huey model isn't super fast.

Here an outdated(WIP) graphic I made back then for the team.

Those + a few more choppers have been updated already, the are still not perfect, but much closer to being realisitc than before.

Hind also get some speed boost? he is faster than the cobra in real life.

I think thats a good change.

It was always weird when you cant catch up to a Huey in an Osprey. Which made the Osprey kinda redundant because a Huey can land faster.

The vBF2 stuff (that we actually use) is already made part of PR. Been like that since v1.0 or so.
So all in all you don't need to have vBF2 anymore.

It was actually about adding a second seat that would do the turning, but at a much faster rate than currently :)

Its something I hope to look into at some point but it isn't in v1.3

Well done - guys. I only got 2 concerns:
1. I don't know how greedy EA lawyers are - Have you doublechecked with EA whether they are ok if you distribute parts of their IP? I don't want to see PR going down because of some fuckin lawyer.

2. I'm a bit concerned about the amount of those insurgency road blocks. This might lead to setting up a tower defence game in front of the cache - or building a road block at the enntrance of a cave with infantry behind which constantly reshovels that shit. At least therefore it would be great if a C4 completely destroys the roadblock (and a foxhole btw as well). I've seen this being abused various times.

They still want to protect their IP, they recently used BF2 assets for BF Play4Free.

There are also remasters of older games being released left and right so they will want to lock it up just in case they want to sell the game to us again.

The thing is, they're going to catch a lot of shit if they start throwing their lawyers on a community that has stuck with their game for over 10 years, especially since they shut down the servers.

Totally agreed - and I hope that they will notice this as well.
The thing is - you'll never know. And just considering existing law they could sue you without any problem. (At least I have no case for Abandonware in mind...)
But you know, it might be a cultural thing, that the German guy worries about everything in advance... :wink:

I was thinking, those roadblocks might also be really useful for creating safe avenues for getting from hideouts to the cache. A lot of the time, you have to cross a street to get from a hideout to a cache. Once an AR starts camping that street, he can cut off reinforcements. But if you place a long road block perpendicular to the street, or even create a sort of alleyway with two of them, you can safely cross and keep reinforcements flowing.

By the way, what's the max limit for roadblocks?

I hope the "NATO" infantry Anti-Air kit gets fixed. It is not playing sounds when it is locking a target, much less buzzing when the target is on lock. So the enemy CAS will just release the flares and ruin any shot possibility. Shooting without the locking sound is much more based on luck than on skills. This is a big disadvantage when your infantry AA is "broken" and the enemy's is not. Speaking of the current NATO AA in game, the zoom really sucks. Perhaps if it could have two levels of zoom, that would be better: One normal, far out, like the russian AA, which uses iron sights apparenetly, and one level of (scoped?) zoom. If the target is a bit close it is almost impossible to aim for a good shot.

Didn't K4on or someone mention they're working on promotional material for the release? I think that means there's a trailer in the works. For the past hour during my lunch break at work I've been watching old trailers cause I can't wait to play 1.3. Give it to MEEE!

I can't help but think of the possibility that 1.3 may get delayed a day or two, forcing you guys to reinstall 1.2 so you can play over the weekend!

EDIT: OK, I'm at work, it's Friday, and the anticipation is getting to be a little too much. I don't know why but I'm getting more worked-up about this than the 1.0 release. It must be those damn roadblocks and AKMs...

Same feeling here, man. Just need to keep your mind occupied with other things.

Though waiting for 1.3 has had one advantage for me: It has increased my productivity tenfold. That's great because I don't think I'll be able to get anything done as soon as 1.3 hits the servers.
