I apologize if this has been brought up but I have been unable to locate it via the search feature.

After several rounds using the LAV-25, specifically on Sareema and Pavolosk Bay where it has to go toe to toe with BTR 80 w/ 30mm, I am afraid that the density of the smoke basically renders the vehicle useless the second it takes damage. After getting into contact on multiple occasions, the vehicle would produce smoke which completely envelop both the gunner's and driver's sights. My only option as gunner was to continue firing at my targets last known relative position and hope I got lucky, a tactic that almost never works. In engagements where we didn't fire first, it was almost always game set match, even against crews that have made major mistakes.

As driver, I have to rely on my gunner to rotate his gun broadside and try to navigate that way until we find a major road. Even then it is incredibly painstaking to RTB.

I understand the engine is forward in the hull which makes the forward smoke realistic. However, no other vehicle in game which I have operated (I am pretty sure I used them all) has this issue that I know of. Furthermore, with the exception of Fallujah, almost every map the LAV-25 is on, it is the USMCs primary tool to go toe to toe with other armor. The AAV is great, but it typically will not win a fight with a 30mm vehicle. For gameplay's sake, I wonder if at the very least, a reduction in the amount of smoke can be considered.

i guess that can be fixed whit more smoke and fire effects. jk

i ques a good fix for this is to put a side smoke, and also the bradley have the same issue as the lav its make the gunner blind and make the driver had to set the back of the armor to clear the view for the gunner, but of course is deadly but works my driver did that in al bashar and we could fight against bomb cars

I can't really see a problem... We have smoke on vehicles at the back of them. If you can't see as a gunner or driver, then turn the vehicle... First we were told to put damage smoke, then we should reduce it because players can't see when looking back?
We'll stick with what we have on this matter until some (perhaps) better effects comes along. But I'll think about it... ok?

Its not that you can't look back, its that you can't see anything. You have to use your map which usually results in you driving into a tree.

You seem to be missing the issue. The smoke comes out of the center of the LAV and makes it near impossible to see anywhere but straight back, especially while on the move. It's to the point that I've occasionally resorted to backing up most of the way to main to avoid dying through collision.

If you have played the game Anders...I'm starting to see a horrific trend here, players become devs then don't touch the game and defend their errors because suddenly they have [R-Dev] or w.e tag.

Guys get your heads out of your asses and play your own game, or quit arguing with people who actually do play the game. You will obviously call players "ungrateful" and remind us "we do this on our free time". Well have some pride in what you do and be mature enough to accept your errors instead of hiding behind excuses. This isn't the first time DEVs refuse to listen to people who play the game on something that is potentially game breaking, and I'm sure it won't be the last. At least have some legitimate reasoning behind trying to avoid fixing problems you made.

The smoke effect makes it impossible to see most of the time, if you wanted to remove the ability to see just say so don't defend a mistake as if it was intentional.

Yea sorry Anders if I didn't describe the issue well. Thanks for taking the time to respond. I think all players are for smoke effects and am not against it causing issues in a combat situation. The problem with the LAV is the position of the smoke (basically at the center front just forward of of the turret) makes only the only viable option once hit is to drive and fight with the gun astern. The problem is, that you 90% of the time you aren't going to win a head to head fight.

By no means am I saying we should get rid of smoke, I think the effects are great. But the origin point of the effect on the LAV-25 is an issue.

The pics posted above show it best.
