As you could have seen in our recently released feature list (https://www.realitymod.com/forum/f196-pr-highlights/121837-pr-bf2-v1-0-feature-list.html), PR:BF2 v1.0 includes a variety of tweaks and gameplay changes. To flatten the learning curve for both new and even long time Project Reality players we want to present you an updated manual.
The content has been modified to reflect the changes in v1.0 and also been extended to cover some of the new additions like "BackUp-Sights" and our advanced rally point system. We're on our final stretch to the release now and hope too see you on the battlefield soon.

Can someone explain what an informant is? Is this a new feature?

"Insurgents and other irregular forces (except for the militia) do not have access to the UAV. They can
gain some intelligence on enemy troop movement by sending out informants.

This is simply done by
placing waypoints at the locations where you want the informants to head to. About 5 minutes after
placing a waypoint the informant will be on location and report if there are multiple enemies in his area
(6 or more). The reports take about 30 to 60 seconds to reach the commander and can be used to
determine where the opposition is approaching from"

The feature has been around for a while. If I had to guess I'd say 0.8 or 0.9. It's purely a commander intel feature. There are no sneaky insurgents with eye holes cut into newspapers watching bluefor movements :P

I am aware of the waypoint part, what I don't get is the informant part that gives enemy positions away. The only use of waypoints I've seen is to mark out positions of previously destroyed caches. Not to locate enemies.

Page 6 says...

"Deployment:
The main mode of play in PR:BF2. Here you will find intense battles with up to 64 human players."

Needs to be changed to 100?

Oh I see, from memory the waypoints can become overrun, similar to rally points.

I think it was 6 enemy within 50 or 100 meters and then after a delay the commander sees that the position is over run and can estimate where the enemy are coming from.

Thanks, sir! This is indeed an improvement over the previously (v0.95) three plus year old one.

It's not a new feature, it's been there for a while but hasn't been used a lot. It's basically a UAV that you place somewhere (as taliban, insurgent or hamas) and it will tell you when a group of enemy players are near it (6 or more), you can place multiple of these. This feature might become usefull on the new 4km insurgency maps like burning sands.

- So why aren't you playing 1.0 already?!
- I'm still reading the fucking manual.

:D

After reading a few pages it seems like I have got a lot of new things to catch up with. Feels familiar...

Nice update to my original work. I did not notice that many changes which probably means I overlooked a few of them. Might be useful to have some appedix with important changes from previous version like there was in some older editions of the manual.

Is this a full PR manual or it will be updated? Because it has 50 pages and it ends on UAV commander. I though there will be some credits or so. Now it looks like someones cut the rest.

I cut out the credits as they were outdated. You can read the updated credits in the PR launcher. All parts that need to be explained in the manual are in there. I can't think of anything that isn't explained.

There will be updates on it in the future, but as it says in the intro, it will eventually be replaced by a wiki.

Fresh meat to translate! :D

I have just started, but I can't paste some text of the previous translation I made. The programme just lets me to do it line by line, and it's getting very frustrating :S

The previous versions were a lot easier to translate :(

Thanks for this piece of art, though :D

Is there any chance of having page 22, the mini-map icons in a white-background, hi-res pdf file of its own so I can print it off for quick reference? The low res and black background is awful for my printer =[

Maybe you can do something with this Heskey?

Got it from this blog post:

Cheers dbzao, I'm sure I'll be able to.

The icons are a bit fatter/slimmer in game. There's some choppers on the load maps that I can't find on the sheet!

Care if I edit this to correct mistakes found and submit it?

"Some alternate HATs are unguided and fire straight aswell as some display no the recticule markers."

Could we get an equipment manual? Listing all the stuff on the maps for the factions? Maybe even a guide how to use them.
