Hey guys,

In preparation for the PRTA Mini-Mod Map Test Event (https://www.realitymod.com/forum/f376-pr-event-news/116563-prta-event-minimod-maptest-14th-15th-16th.html) we've been working hard at making PR:F v0.192 with our main aim at trying to fix all the known bugs and crashes, while also adding a bit of new content. While we can't say for certain if we have fixed all the major bugs, we will only find out after we start playing this on a full server :D

Argentine Voices
LuchoLavalle, Juan Maximiliano Maye (https://www.facebook.com/ApoloMusicOficial) & [R-DEV]anders have been hard at work over the past few months recording and sorting out some new voices for the Argentine faction and they have done an amazingly good job, setting a whole new standard for new voices in the future for PR!

FV101 Scorpion CVR(T)
Most of you by now should be well acquainted with the FV107 Scimitar CVR(T) since its been in PR for a number of years now, but the Scorpion hasn't featured at all in that time since it was retired from the British Armed Forces in 1994. However a few Scorpions where used in the 1982 Falklands War with Two troops from B Squadron, Blues and Royals, along with the Scimitar.
The Scorpion and the Scimitar are from the same family of Combat Vehicle Reconnaissance (Tracked), aka CVR(T) and are basically the same vehicle, with one major difference. the Scorpion has a 76mm cannon where the Scimitar has a 30mm cannon. There are other small differences between the two like the Scorpion has a different night sight and from its bigger, heavier cannon its slightly slower but other than that, they are pretty much the same thing.
Now your probably asking at this point as to why would we go and replace the Scimitar with something that has a bigger cannon when the Scimitar was already such a pain in the ass for the Argentine Infantry. Well while the Scimitar has a fully automatic 30mm cannon which has a rate of fire of 200 rounds per min, the Scorpion's 76mm cannon only has a rate of fire 6 rounds per min. So while its cannon packs a much bigger punch, its only going to be able to fire once every 10 seconds, which should give the infantry a much bigger chance to fight back, while also making it more effective vs other vehicles and deployables.

The Falklands is also not the only place you will see the Scorpion. Back in the day when the west was friends with Iran, Britain sold 300 FV101 Scorpion CVR(T)s to Iran and many of these still operate in the Iranian Armed Forces today, with them also producing there own version of the Scorpion now. As such we have made an MEC version of the Scorpion which you will hopefully see on a few maps in v1.0. It should also be noted that it is unlikely to be used on the same map with a Scimitar on the opposite side if anyone is worried about enemy identification, but not impossible if the mapper feels it can work. Since this is the Export model of the Scorpion its had its night sight removed, only leaving a bare plate where it should be to the right of the cannon.

New M-35 and VW Type 2 Textures
3===SPECTER===3 has been working hard at reskinning the M-35 and VW Type 2 (Hippie Van) with Argentine Camouflage for this release since the M-35 was using USMC textures before and the VW Type 2 was using a generic civi skin. The VW Type 2 also has a higher rez texture than it did before which should improve its appearance a little although in time we hope to replace the model as its pretty low quality, but for now it dose the job :mrgreen:

Goose Green (2km Map)
MineralWouter has been hard at work over the past few months making this map that aims to portray the famous Battle of Goose Green. Although Goose Green is featured in the main Falklands map, it isn't anywhere near to the correct scale like the rest of the map, since the main Falklands map aims to portray the entire war, rather than a single battle. This map however portrays the terrain and this single event in a much more convincing scale and while you wont be able to get the same Harrier air support you can on the main Falklands map, you will be able to just have some pure infantry combat over some demanding terrain, trying to push though the Argentine lines or holding off the British from a defensive location. Please note this map is still very much a WIP and there are a bunch of bugs/issues still on it which we hope to address in the future.

Integrated the latest PR:V and PR:N Python into PR:F to stop the bug where players who didn't have PR:V installed couldn't crate local games etc
Vehicle Warfare Game-Mode: Made the Flag Capture times variable by the map and not a forced time of 15secs by python as per before
Vehicle Warfare Game-Mode: Attempted to decrease the min number of players needed to capture a flag when the server had a bunch of players in it from 6 to 4

Fixed the Jet POVs bug where if you where in a POV view, then tried to switch to weapon 2 or 3, your view wouldn't reset forwards.
Fixed the bug where Bipod GPMGs would be locked to the first team that used them, now they are fully open to both teams no matter what
The Falklands: Fixed Hole in Terrain near Goose Green / Darwin
Added the FV101 Scorpion CVR(T) Reconnaissance Vehicle
The Falklands - AAS128, AAS64, AAS32 & AAS16: Replaced the Scimitar with the Scorpion
Added new VW Type 2 (Hippie Van) Argie Camo Textures
Increased the Enfiled Sniper Rifle Ammo from 18 rounds to 40 rounds
Attempt to Fix the Brit L2A2 Grenade from sometimes not detonating

The Scorpion change should indeed reduce the OP to the rapid fire scimitar, and for once as an old man when I shout scorpion on sighting the scimitar I'll be right.

Nice to see you've stopped calling the VW a Westfalia too.

Looking forward to this tonight and in normal rotation when the time comes.

Each time i try to install it says I need PR.

My directory is D:\Games but it won't install to there anyone manage to install this yet?

Edit : i just came back from Goose Green (beautiful map by the way), and i don't hear any voices when i played from the Argentine Side. British voices are still there. Did i miss someting ? :s

Nice update

I know the MEC is purely fictional, however Iran being a part of it (meaning Jordan, Saudi-Arabia and the whole gulf region reconciling their differences with it) is just inconceivable in my opinion, though I understand it gives license to the inclusion of a whole lot of new MEC assets.

In the war this LVTP-7 was used. This would add more teamplay and player who dont like infantry gameplay can use them and support the infs over the open fields. (1 or 2 with high value of life [high respawn times])

Damn, if anyone else has problems with the installer let me know. I had to do a bodge job on it as AM didn't have time to do one and he's our local expert on them :p

Didn't test the voices on GG, my bad... They should be working fine on the main Falklands Map and we will hopefully fix this bug soon :)

Yes this is true, it is unlikely to see Iran in any alliance with any other ME countries, but the entire concept of the MEC is ludicrous :p
That being said, Jordan and Oman both have Scorpions too, although Jordan did this to their Scorpions... (new, think 30mm cannon and AT missiles...)

And Oman is in my books anyways as far as PR's fictional storyline goes, is on the same side as the west and being liberated from the MEC by NATO forces :)

For one the M113 isn't in the Skirmish layers... The LVTP-7 is if that's what your confusing it with?

As far as I'm aware, the M113 wasn't in the Falklands war, if you've got a source on it was then I would like to see it, but nothing I've seen says it was.

If you are thinking of the LVTP-7, it was only used in the initial Argentine Invasion of the Falklands (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/1982_invasion_of_the_Falkland_Islands) (which Skirmish 32 is based on) but then after that all of them returned home to Argentina and didn't feature in the main fighting.

Ye as Midnight said, Panhard is in the plans, just no one is working on it currently and the LVTP-7 is ingame, but only on the Skirmish 32 layer (https://www.realitymod.com/forum/f196-pr-highlights/115200-falklands.html), which is based on the Argentine Invasion of the Falklands (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/1982_invasion_of_the_Falkland_Islands) which was the only time the LVTP-7 was used during the war.

The model itself is a reskinned AAVP7A1 with the Mk19 barrel removed (via code) so the turret is a little different and has modern armour on it but it dose the job :)

I mean the LVTP-7, not the M113, sorry. Even if they pulled them after the ocupation from the island, it would be better to have a wider range of assets and gameplay/balancing on the map or. I dont think someon would say oh man its so ultimativ unrealistic or? ^^

Ye, as I said before it wasn't used other than the initial invasion where then after it left with the landing ship that brought it and I want to stick as much as I can to historical accuracy. Panhard will also hopefully be in a later version for players who want to do the armour side of things :D

Currently right now not working on anything PR:F related, other than possibly fixing a few bugs in the coming week if there are any that really need fixing, that I can fix and if AM will let me :p

Right now its really in the communities hands to complete the majority of the work still needed to be done for this mod as I'm now back to finishing other more pressing projects. PR:F is in a pretty good state right now, although missing some key elements such as LMGs are missing although Loke is currently working on the Bren (https://www.realitymod.com/forum/f388-pr-bf2-community-modding/116485-weapon-bren-l4a4-lmg-pr-f-wip.html) and the FM FAP shouldn't take much to make off the FN FAL. The other stuff is really to replace current place holders and to give new elements of gameplay to the mod :)

While yes, Ships are in the design plan, I don't honestly expect them to be done. While I would love for someone to make them, as they would give an awesome dimension to the mod with putting even more focus for the Argie jets to go after the shipping and not just ground targets, while also giving them a much bigger challenge than AC (since they have weapons, anti-ship countermeasures and will most likely be mobile too), the amount of work and the skill sets required for them means that its very unlikely that someone with that amount of time and has the skill sets required, is going to come along and do them :(
Although I still have put them up there just encase someone dose come along wanting a challenge :D

So ye, still lots yet that can be done for PR:F and possibly in the long run the dev team may put some more resources into finishing some of them off but at this point, really in the community hands since the Dev team is stretched real thin trying to sort out everything for the core mod right now and for the foreseeable future.

When you load Goose Green before ANY other maps for the first time SINCE YOU INSTALLED the minimod, you won't hear them, but once you play another falklands map it loads them, then Goose Green is normal.

At least that's what it was for me.

In the Falklands War, the Argentines deployed 12 AML-90s from Escuadron de Exploracion Caballeria Blindada 181 (181st Armoured Cavalry Reconnaissance Squadron) and an unknown additional number from Escuadron de Exploracion Caballeria Blindada 10 near Port Stanley. During the Battle of Wireless Ridge (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Battle_of_Wireless_Ridge) the only armour versus armour engagement of the war was fought when these units encountered FV101 Scorpions and FV107 Scimitars of the Blues and Royals. The AML-90s were abandoned in Stanley after the conflict ended.

Well, it is classed as a Light Tank as well as a recon vehicle. Also Thermals are just a place holder since we don't have proper Night Vision in the mod. MEC one wont have any thermals or NV when it gets fixed too since it doesn't have a night sight.

Just googled it, hummm, it's one very nice and successful light tank! (It reminds me of AMX12t, both look lovely!:))
In PR, the driver can handle it very easily, and it has excellent react time, which can really save our ass in the battle.
Although reloading time is a bit long, but much better than T62 lol.

Well, as far as i know, 12 Panhards were sent to the Falklands, 8 of them being part of the Destacamento de Exploraci?n de Caballer?a Blindada 181 (Scout Cavalry) and the other two belongs to Escuadr?n de Exploraci?n 10 (Scout Squadron No10). All vehicles were stationed near "Sapper Hill", well protected from British naval attacks.

I can confirm they took part of the battles near the end of the war. Nearly all of them were "static". The Argentine Forces were short of fuel, and the fuel was used to supply Radars and AA Guns. Since the British Forces attacked mainly at night, Panhards were unable to support Argentine troops because of the lack of NV systems, and since they were static, they were used as "Artillery platforms" to support the Argentine retreat.

They suffered from counter-artillery, two Panhards in particular suffered from these Artillery attacks, one of their crew members got wounded and both vehicles were put out of action and were not repaired by it's crew because of the lack of tools.

As the British Forces came closer and closer, the Panhard united decided to destroy their own vehicles and surrender to the British.

They were not used as mobile forces because of the terrible ground, they were pretty much limited to traveling on roads, but the British AT Missiles could easily knock them out so they were left as static "bunkers".
