Hey all!

We could really use some help from the community here with getting rid of some of these place holders and filling in the gaps for PR:BF2 - Falklands (PR:F).

Below is a list of open "Community Tasks" that are up for grabs from anyone within the community to do for PR:F. Many assets have already been finished though this by community modders (many now R-CONs and R-DEVs who first started out as Community Modders) and providing your work is up to standard etc, there is no reason why it wouldn't be included into PR:F.

Please note this list doesn't include everything we need or that is currently being worked on, only stuff that's not currently being worked on and items we feel are necessary for the next or future releases. Please also note the priority of each item, as some things are higher priority than others as they are required for the next release or to fill in a critical gap in gameplay assets which are higher priority than assets that are just to remove a current place holder with the correct, historically accurate asset.

Anyone is welcome to have a go at these tasks, even beginners who want to learn the ways of the trade can help out ;)

So please post below or PM me if you see something you would like to take on or if you have any questions and if you do take on a task I will give you all the info and refs I have on the item :)

Updated the OP and cleaned the topic.

The next PR:F release will be its last major release and its unlikely to have any new content added after that so I've stripped the OP tasks down to only the small tasks that can be done in time for the next major release if started sometime soon and added the Tigercat SAM Texturing task which is really high priority as we don't want to see all of lucky's awesome hard work going to waste but the other tasks would be awesome if anyone is up for them too! :D

Updated the OP with the FMK-1 & FMK-3 AP & AT Mines Export Task:

FMK-1 & FMK-3 AP & AT Mines
Priority: Normal
We need someone to export 3===SPECTER===3's FMK-1 Anti-Personal and FMK-3 Anti-Tank Mines which where used by the Argentinians during the Falklands War. The 1st person and 3rd person models are all done (other than possibly the 3p lods but its better to make them once lod0 is exported anyways) and its really just a matter of exporting this out as a handheld weapon, using some of the existing mine animations. This is a pretty easy export task so anyone who wants to learn exporting on, this is a good place to start :)

It's a bit overly saturated. It's important that you do change the smaller texture because I'm assuming that's the 3p

Ye as IP said, its seriously over saturated but its not a quick RGB level tweak like you've done which screws up most of the texture, it dose require repainting.

If I'm correct, it should be possible with some algorithm (maybe there is a converter-program) which simply analyzes the different grey-colors and turns them into any other color accordingly (in this case the specific green colors). Any idea, Rhino?

If you are a bit handy with PS you can that without 'algorithms'. Fastest way is still to simply re-texture it. Faster and no loss of quality.

Yep, although one guy has started work on the FM FAP model but haven't heard anything from him in some time and the Mk17 1000lb bomb is an easier model if your just getting into modelling :)

Version 9 (not 2009!). You will also need poe2 tools for max 9 at some point when it comes time for setting up textures and exporting.

It's very important to get this version because it's the last version that works correctly with the poe2 tools for bf2. If you model in any later version you will need to export it as an obj file and import it into max 9, which messes a lot up. Thus, start out in max 9! :)

All it needs is some animation work, and the final LODs can be modeled and it's good to go I think. I'd do them myself, but I am in the final four months of school at the moment, so pretty busy TBH.

We need the L14A1 (M2) Carl Gustav for the British Heavy Anti-Tank kit, as well as an M3 of many other factions in PR such as for the US Army, Canadian Army and the upcoming Norwegian Forces, as well as a possible few others, with a range of different types of ammunition for it too. Ask for more information and references from us if your interested in taking this task, before doing any major work on it.

I would like to try to take on texturing the LAW-66 Light Anti-Tank.

However, I must state that I have no experience with modding Project Reality whatsoever. I have only Gimp and a vague understanding of how texturing works. Could you help me find my bearings, so to speak?

Awesome! The LAW 66 is a very nice small easy task to learn the basics of texturing on so sounds perfect for you and ye, we can help you with getting to grips with it. I'll make a topic in community modding for you outlining the details and if you post your progress and questions in there we can all give you the feedback and guidance you need :)

I thought that too , after finishing kornet but then I said "f** it" :D I have to learn texturing to finish it and I don't want to learn now I just learned how to model so I still have the rush :)

I would seriously advise you to focus on Kornet since it has a lot of work yet before it is ready for it is even ready for UVs and Texturing and if you start two models at this point in your learning of 3D Game Modelling, you will just end up with two models with lots of serious issues preventing them from getting to the next step, instead of learning from your first models mistakes and applying what you have learnt to your second model.

I originally came from a CAD background too and it is totally the opposite type of modelling for game modelling, as it is not about making something accurately, it is about making something that is optimized and will work in a game engine and right now, your Kornet is far from being optimized and able to work in a game engine tbh.

Cheers, anything in particular your hoping to get into? Modelling, Texturing, etc?

If your looking for a texturing task, then there is the LAW-66 / M-72 Light Anti-Tank Launcher Re-Texturing task that is still up for grabs, topic here: http://www.realitymod.com/forum/f388-pr-bf2-community-modding/139884-texture-law-66-a.html

If your looking for a modelling task, then fixing up the Goose Green Community Centre Static, which has the main mesh already made but needs some extra detail (door frames, doors, beams, support beams, window frames, etc) and then LOD and cols on top. That is probably the simplest? :)

You may, but wont be able to help you much on it and for it to be usable, will need to be a lot more optimized etc than your Mig. Would suggest looking at how other jets in PR have been modelled.

Here's the refs I've got on it to hand, although they are mainly just refs of just the Argentine version since CTRifle mainly needed them to do the Mirage IIIEA's Navy skin with, but plenty more refs on google if you broaden the search to the French version etc, which afaik, is more or less identical other than the paint job.

The key here is have better lods.
It's better to have high-poly model with better lods rather than low-poly with no or bad lods.

It isn't so much about "high poly models", its about them being optimized. Fine to have the high poly detail (providing it isn't insane) since as rPoXoTauJIo said, you can cut it down/out in the LODs but the main model needs to be optimized, so tris aren't wasted to begin with.

I understand, that some parts of the model would require increased poly count to give detail, and some parts would be good even in low poly count and what least of poly count would give the best result for some parts wouldn't necessarily be good for the others.

I appreciate your enthusiasm but taking all those tasks, on top of what your already working on is really not in anyone's best interest.

I would advise you to first focus on finishing the Super Etendard, although I know your waiting on feedback etc from me, will hopefully be able to give you some later this week, and then once that's complete, move on to a new task.

As for refs, I don't have many refs of either of them if you really do want to go ahead with them, but you can google for some yourself if need be, but I would still suggest focus on finishing your current projects, rather than starting new ones, although the Carl Gustav is much higher priority than the FN-6, since the PLA do use a copy of the SA-7, but would be nice to have :)

Untill you give me the feed,i could do some work on the Carl gustav,but the description said M2 and M3 versions,so can i model the different versions in the same scene with all the different rounds?
and yes FN-6 can wait, also in the past few weeks, i have learnt to do UV mapping.
