The award winning Project Reality Team (https://www.realitymod.com) is proud to announce the official release of Project Reality: ARMA 2 v0.15 BETA!

Six months after our initial release, we have been hard at work fixing bugs and working on new gameplay features and missions. You can find more details on all of these changes and features below.

You can download and install the mod one of two ways. The easiest way is via the self-installer.exe. The second and most difficult way is to download the 7-Zip to manually install. To avoid any potential problems, we strongly advise all players to use the self-installer.exe to install the mod.

Thanks to several direct link providers, there are a number of mirrors available to download Project Reality: ARMA 2, including a torrent. You can find all of the download links and information here:

Download Project Reality: ARMA 2 v0.15 BETA Here (https://www.realitymod.com/downloads#arma2)

Please note that you must have ARMA2: Combined Operations installed and be running the ARMA2: Operation Arrowhead v1.60 patch in-order to play the Project Reality: ARMA 2 mod. In addition we highly recommend using the latest BIS beta patch (http://www.arma2.com/beta-patch.php)as there have been several important bug-fixes since patch 1.60. If you use a beta patch, ensure you add the switch '-beta' to your Project Reality shortcut. More help available in the forums if required.

BETA Release
As with PR:ARMA2 v0.1 back in September, this release is a BETA and therefore should NOT be considered a final product. It should also be noted that this is v0.15 of a brand new mod on a new game engine and should not be compared in anyway to the Project Reality: BF2 modification. The aim of this BETA release is for the PR Team to get quality feedback to ensure that we are progressing in the right direction with the PR:ARMA2 mod.

We have various assets and a new island almost complete, but they are simply not ready to be included in this BETA release. In some cases placeholders have been implemented so that we can concentrate on the more important gameplay aspect of the mod to ensure we get it right first.

As with any BETA release, the quality of future releases now lies with you, the community, and the feedback you provide. As is normal with any Project Reality release, we will not take on any feedback for at least 2 weeks. This time period will allow players to adapt and fully understand the PR:ARMA2 gameplay concept before commenting. Therefore, the feedback forums will remain locked for the next 2 weeks.

There are 5 servers currently up. Make sure you are running PR version 0.15. If so check your filter settings - it should be [@PR 0.15]

Excellent work!
I especially like the new kit icons on the squad management screen. They are nicely sorted, how it should be.

Cheers.

Lol. We had one or two servers maxxed out at the same time, or approaching it, today and there was just some awesome games. I'm loving it. I just finished playing 7 hours and I have to stop now and pretend that there are other things in life worth spending time on ;)

I'm seeing lots of new player names which is great and lots of the regulars too, doing some awesome teamwork coordinating their separate squads. It's a real pleasure.

Based on some of the experience with new players today my 2 main pieces of advice for today for new players is 1) to read the manual (https://www.realitymod.com/forum/f560-pr-arma2-manual). The better you know it, the more you Win :) 2) The other advice is not to expect to just pilot a helicopter. One player insisted on doing so, without comms, and kept getting them destroyed at the frontline. A second kept crashing them into the hills and players ultimately refused to fly with him. And a third insisted on piloting despite someone else being chosen to pilot the squad and then they quit the game out of frustration at not getting to pilot. Piloting is a genuine skill and greatly valued by the community. If it is done badly it can mean the death of many men, the loss of an asset, ticket hits, and a failed attempt to defend, capture or create FO's. So, players and squad-leaders may be reluctant to risk all of that with an untested pilot. If piloting is done well, it can mean the difference between winning and losing the game. If piloting is important to you, practice when you can and be patient. Little by little you will eventually get opportunities to pilot and build trust with other players who will then look to you to provide that service. If you try to force it, you may rub people the wrong way.
Ultimately though, the game benefits most from players who are willing to do whatever it takes to help their squad and their side - whether it's attacking, defending, marching, driving, piloting, building, leading, etc etc.

Anyway, as I said, I'm loving v0.15 and the teamwork I saw today was as good as any yet - so thanks to the dev team and I look forward to more carnage :)

Cheers,
Swedge

I lol'd hard. Yeah noticed a lot of ppl wasting choppers tonight. Swedge has a valid point, read the manual, train to fly, get on comms.

But you first need to learn the basics of infantry fight, and then move to advanced roles like piloting is.

Had some amazing rounds today. Some not so good, mainly because like 75% of the players were new to the mod. Asked around, some came from BF2:PR, some from A2 community. Anyway, as frustrating it was to play portside with these new players (we basically lost the match still on the LHD, helos were dropping like flies), it was quite thrilling to see so many new players. Hope that they got a good first impression and some of them will stick around for longer than a few days.

Anyway, there's probably going to be more beginners around than usual, so You veterans please bare with them and show them the ropes. ;)

How many people did we have playing simultaneously by the way? When I checked PRSPY at some point, it was at 156.

PS! If there's new players reading this who got the mod yesterday, I'd really like to know your first thoughts and impressions.

Just wanted to say that was me, and I genuinely understand why... sorry I took off on the sqad, it just rubbed me the wrong way. And I wanted to just point out that I am a skilled pilot and have been flying on arma 2 since its release and play in very demanding situations as well as in milism units. I hope, like you said, I can be tested out eventually and be a trusted pilot among the others in the server. In regards to the thread... Excellent release, love the update... PR guys rock

I reckon it would be a good idea to go easy on players that are new to the mod/game. Just for the first few weeks. As in easy I'm thinking helping and guiding (towards the manual etc.) just so community can benefit from this attention and grow. : )

EDIT: Oh and ill promise to be seeding most of the weekend.

Must agree with all the positive feedback... looks superb, plays great. Really well done.

Did notice a few people giving the Newbies a hard time when they asked for help.... c'mon guys... lets help each other and get this kick ass MOD populated the way it deserves... if you scare off the newbies, who are you going to kill??

ALSO... has anyone else noticed more frequent crashes..... every 10-15 minutes my game is crashing to Desktop....Ugh! Dont remember it being this bad before?

Indeed, there is a thread on the crashes located here. (https://www.realitymod.com/forum/f440-pr-arma2-general-discussion/108637-crashes-today-3.html#post1746658)

Updating to the latest ArmA beta patch seems to help, but doesn't entirely fix the issue. Its all a bit of a mystery at the moment but its being looked at.

I've given the beta about 3 hours and I'm absolutely digging it! It has that PR vibe that I miss so much from the BF2 days. Very nice work! Thank you.
