It has been 6 months since the release of Project Reality Arma 2 v0.1 BETA, and the team has been hard at work fixing bugs and introducing new gameplay elements.

The pre-release test that's been running over at Tactical Gamer for the past month has helped us gauge performance, as well as highlighting further bugs. We've resolved everything that we determined was necessary in order to get the release finalised. In terms of performance, we're very happy. Thanks to BIS the release of the ArmA2:OA Patch 1.60 in December finally allows us all to play without the warping and freezing that bedeviled our 0.1 release.

So, we're happy to announce that the release date for PR: ARMA2 v.015 BETA is:

Project Reality: ARMA 2 v0.15 BETA Release Information

A huge amount of work has been completed on identified bugs and plenty on unidentified ones as well, game modes have been revised, and new features have been introduced. We have new missions on Chernarus and the US Army faction has been included on Takistan. A complete change log of the 0.15 Beta release can be viewed here (https://www.realitymod.com/forum/f509-mini-updates-team/107375-project-reality-arma-2-v0-15-beta-features-list.html).

Project Reality: ARMA 2 v0.15 beta requires:

ARMA2 plus Operation Arrowhead (collectively known as Combined Operations (http://www.arma2.com/game-features/arma-2-co-game-features_en.html)).
For a better experience, we strongly recommend the British Armed Forces (http://www.arma2.com/game-features/arma-2-operation-arrowhead-british-armed-forces-features_en.html) DLC too.

Your game must be patched to 1.60 (http://www.arma2.com/index.php?option=com_rokdownloads&view=file&Itemid=20&id=756:arma-2-combined-operations--operation-arrowhead--reinforcements-patch-1&lang=en). In addition we highly recommend using the latest BIS beta patch (http://www.arma2.com/beta-patch.php)as there have been several important bug-fixes since patch 1.60. If you use a beta patch, ensure you add the switch '-beta' to your Project Reality shortcut. More help available in the forums if required.

Future Direction of PR : ARMA 2

Straight back to work after this release, the team hopes to have the 0.2 public release out soon after this. The 0.2 release will focus on assets and our upcoming new map, Afghan Village. And of course as a public release it will mean that you, the public, will be able to license and open servers.

Recruitment

The Project Reality Team is recruiting ARMA 2 developers, in particular those with knowledge of config files and Oxygen 2. If you are skilled and knowledgeable with ARMA 2 development, and would like to join the team ... then register on the forums here and PM [R-DEV]epoch (https://www.realitymod.com/forum/members/11246.html).

AMAZING. The 1.6 patch really made ArmA so much better. The Beta has been a blast to play at TG for the last weeks and I'm looking forward to the release.

Thank you for creating this mod!

Im a noob. I downloaded 1.6 a while back, then it seemed all the beta patches were hard to find in the forums so I gave up in tryin to find then lastest one. My question is will this go on top on 1.5 or 1.6? and will it have a link on the Offical PR website to the the download?
Can someone please give me a checklist on how to install this beta patch orrectly step by step?

Thanks..

Pretty sure it will be easy as like it was before 0.15 closed beta. 0.15 closed was not actually planned to last that long but the devs thought it's so much better than 0.1 so that nobody is going to play 0.1 anymore and they left it for us in the 0.15 closed state. Although this one was a little bit harder to install than the usual updates.

"open" beta 0.15 will be released soon as you can see in this thread. I also would say there won't be any more steps until public version 0.2.
I personally expect that the imminent 0.15 beta will be very smooth to play not even speaking about 0.2 which will be for sure a thing we all should look forward to.

To sum it up... if you can't wait for next friday look into this: https://www.realitymod.com/forum/f440-pr-arma2-general-discussion/107325-project-reality-arma2-v0-15-closed-beta-testing.html

There you can find all the things you need to play closed beta 0.15. If you can wait then check the news section on friday. It is going to be as easy as it can be to install.

You also have to divert 1.60 Arma patch and 0.15 PR. If you have 1.60 arma patch installed you only need to follow the link above to get the current PR version and all the passwords you need to get on the server.
The "public" version of PR 0.15 is going to be released very soon as you can see in the news thread here. Just check back and you will get download links as soon as possible.... next friday.

Looking forward to meet you on the field of battle...

~Lan out

By the way, can somebody give us the filesize of the download and will there be predownload in the future if the file is measured in gigabytes.

Atkinson

I would imagine that the filesize is about the same as with the 0.15 beta (around 300 megs) and it seems that moddb will have those files available pretty soon as they have been already uploaded there but are just waiting for moderator approval/testing...

The .7z is 283 MB (297,192,675 bytes)
The .exe is 287 MB (301,170,688 bytes)

Have a look at the post https://www.realitymod.com/forum/f440-pr-arma2-general-discussion/106230-how-patch-1-60-hotfix-4-non-steam.html#post1715088 for the 1.60 patch install, IGNORE the hotfix!

Then just download and install the latest beta from Beta patch (http://www.arma2.com/beta-patch.php)

Then edit your shortcut to v0.15 to include -beta at the end of the target line so it will end up something like "C:\Program Files\Bohemia Interactive\ArmA 2\@PR\praa.exe" -beta

All done :D

Is there going to be a preload?

For what reason, if I may ask? Cant see the point of it.

Well last time you had the file ready to download befoe the release and then gave a password out when it was released. Just asking ... figured I would get it downloaded early and then start playn right away.

The reason we do preloads for the BF2 releases is that the downloads are rather large. With a >300 MB download it doesn't seem worth it.
